I am so sore today, I feel like somebody took a bat and hit me with it over and over again. I guess that means it's working though.

Glad I found this thread! I was just going to post on water aerobics. My parks and rec center has a pool. I pay $30 a month for 4 classes a week. I have been going just Saturdays and just this week have decided all 4 days I need/will go. Maybe at a later time I will add in the lap swimming, right now I am doing some physical therapy on my shoulder so it will need to wait as that is a bit much for it right now.

Glad to know I am not the only fish out here on the boards!

I have built up to 30 minutes 3 times a week. I don't try to go fast or hard, just to do it. I want to enjoy exercising. My togs/bathers are getting a bit baggy, shoulder straps keep falling down. I need to make another pair but I left the pattern in NZ and don't have access to an overlocker here. My hairdresser recommended a shampoo that takes the chlorine out of my hair, got some nasty build up happening.

Re: Presenting the slowest swimmer of all time:

As someone who swam competitively when young & has done it pretty much all my life (I'm 56 years old now) yes swimming can play havoc w/your skin/hair just follow these simple rules

Find a MILD shampoo & use it every time you swim (I use a coconut milk based one from India that is mild enough for daily use)

Get a GOOD pair of slippers & wear them at all times in the changing room (same at any gym too) this is a breeding ground for athletes foot. Keep the slippers on your feet & take a minute to sit down & properly dry your feet after you have had your postswim shower/rinse. Be sure to dry between your toes. I personally have a small seperate towel I carry for my feet.

These few things will make your swimming a much more enjoyable part of your life. For me I love swimming as all you need is a speedo & some good goggles. No need for expensive equipment, shoes or clothes, all fits in the palm of your hand too

I'm off your my morning swim right now!
I try to take one day at a time but sometimes several days attack me at once

Sporting goods stores are good for swimsuit discounts. I got a Speedo Wicked Flyback for around $44. Speedo goggles that I got somewhere else cost about $6. Make sure they're comfy. I didn't like the first pair so I exchanged them. Comfort is key! Also when I tried on my suit in the changing room I pretended I was swimming to make sure nothing would pop out or anything! Lol! Also be sure to take a lock with you to the pool so you can lock your stuff up in a locker.

Those are my tips. Shawnee really covered a lot. I had questions too when I started and he really helped me out!
