  • Seriously Slacking

Ok, confession time. The 'running diva' has been seriously slacking this week. Its Thursday and I've logged exactly 4.5 miles this week. Somebody kick me in the butt!

Life has really gotten in the way this week and I feel like a sluggard. Much as I love the new job, by the time I get home at the end of the day, its TOUGH to get outdoors and run. I may need to revert back to running at 5:30 in the mornings just to get it out of the way. Although I don't really want to do that either! I KNOW, I KNOW, BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD!

I will definitely be out there tonight, no matter what.

Oh boy! Do I feel for you! I know all about the 5.30 thing! I get up at 5.30 to be able to get in half an hour's exercise and half an hour walking the dogs, and there are mornings......brrrrrrrr...

Think about how good and virtuous you'll feel afterwards though! You can do it!

If there's one thing I know about you, Betty, it's that you'll be back at it before long. And you know, maybe you just needed a bit of a rest. Maybe your body is trying to tell you something this week and it wants you to take it slow. You'll be pounding the pavement again in no time, but don't beat yourself up for being tired and getting into a new routine! You're still awesome.

I feel for you as I'm drooling over the thought of lifting in the gym again too bad they don't have adult day care in the gym.

just read you 1/2 marathon date and that should get you running cause you know if you fall out or don'trun it there are going to Atkins naysayers everwhere saying I told you she couldn't do it on Atkins! now you fired up or should I think of some more motivation for you. let me see if I can find a pound or two laying around to jump back on your hips should you need more motivation that is.

Stuff happens Betty. We're in this for the long haul, right? What's a week in a lifetime of running? We all know that you're a lifer when it comes to this woe and running. So, quit beating yourself up!

                Dear Miss Diva,

You are amazing and as Isabeau said maybe your body needed a rest (especially after your fall--did you have doc check out your leg??huh?huh? didja? didja?) And we are "lifers" so one week low on milage means nothing in the journey to excellent health.

And hey what is wrong with 5:30 a.m.? I have already been slapping sole to tar for 30 min most mornings by that time. If I can do it, I know you can.

Good job Betty! I know sometimes your body needs a break from the exercise to keep yourself recharged and out of the "I do it only because it's routine" to "I do it because I like it" mode again. I would encourage you, but I know your inner drive has spoken already and gotten your soles a moving already. Did I tell you recently, you're my hero...

I think you guys are so right.......the rest has been a good thing. Last night I really worked myself hard on the weights and exercise ball. It felt GREAT! Tomorrow I plan to hit the trail .. not sure how far I'll go, but believe me, I'll push myself!!

THANKS AGAIN! This thread is my lifeline!!
