  • My new present to my wife (and I)

Now the only reason I say present is because that is what my wife called it. On to the present, my wife has been longing for a treadmill ever since we got heavy, but we never had the funds for a good one. Buying a poor one always seemed like a good way to get disgruntled and leave it to be clothes hanger. Well with my training-vacation to Vegas, winter coming, and my impending two month departure, it seemed like a good time.

We bought a Trimline, which is supposed to be a good brand according to Treadmilldoctors and TreadmillTips websites,T360. There was a floor model sale going on, but we bought one that hadn't reached the floor yet for $900 off. My wife loves it, and I just ran my first 2 miles on it (to prepare for Saturday). This winter should definitely have more exercise other than shoveling snow in it.

Awesome! I'll be using mine this winter too. One thing I read in a running magazine is to keep an incline of 1.5 - 2% in order to kind of simulate wind resistance when running outside. Of course, you can make the incline much greater if you want to simulate some hill stuff too. I just leave mine at 2% and go up from there. I do find it boring compared to running outside but waaaaaay better then not running at all. Congrats on your present!

woo hoo for y'all. does it come with a programable settings like mountain runs canyon runs and stuff? I love my incline and if Isabeau thinks it is boring I'll lend her one of my HIIT workouts to do changing the settings every minute keeps you on your toes and concentrating the whole time.

Congratulations Kent. I know you and your wife will love it. We have two in our exercise room at the club-house and It saved me many days to be able to walk when the winter storms were raging...I still got to walk.

I'd call that one of the best 'presents' you could have given each other. It is contributing to your health and eliminating stress.

*laughs* Uhhhhhh...yeah, that wouldn't be boring! My teadmill has those programmable settings and like your HIIT workouts, the speed and incline changes all the time. They're really hard. Ok, the boring part is being inside! So there! *sticks her tongue out at 2big*

I'll go along with that. I might not run nose-to-nose with doe and her fawn like I did the other day, but I also won't have to wonder if she is still chasing me either.

The one thing about where my treadmill is placed is that at the end of treadmill is a window, so there is a real motivation factor for not slipping or falling down. Needless to say the kids aren't using it without supervision.

What an excellent "present", I love the treadmill. (I never thought I would hear myself say that).

How quick did you do your 2 miles in Kent?
