      Re: Esther is back!!!!

Ok guys - I get the message! I'm back and I'm posting and I'm exercising!!!

I'm on a pay by the minute connection which is only really affordable at weekends, so I may not be posting quite so often, but I'll try and post at least once a week to let you know whats going on exercise-wise.

For the first couple of months here it was just way too hot to run during the day - the move from cloudy old Llanddewi Brefi to Portugal in the middle of summer was a little more than my body could handle at anything faster than a steady walk, and going out at night was a big no-no unless you wanted to get yourself shot by the pig-hunters During the hottest months, I would be doing at least an hour every evening carrying water to all my poor orange trees, and most days doing about 3 hours shoveling sand and cement for the building work. We have a pump installed now, so the watering has got easier...

Last month my son started school in the next village (a *huge* change for us all - we've been homeschooling until now, but my Portuguese isn't good enough and he needs to be able to talk!) so twice a day I have a 25 minute bike ride, with HILLS, to take him and fetch him back from school. On a good day I even manage to ride all the way up the big hill from the station! Yesterday I managed it *both* times!!

There are also miles and miles of forest which need exploring (no maps!) so whenever I have some free time I go off exploring for an hour or two, sometimes walking, sometimes cycling, sometimes jogging. Once or twice a week I manage to squeeze in some Pilates or Yogalates to ease my back and stretch my body out again after all the cement shovelling. Yogalates doesn't seem like exercise to me any more - more like a self-administered massage!
