  • Cool Running for the week of October 16th

    13 miles this morning. My dang watch fogged up and died so not sure of exact time but somewhere between 2:20 and 2:30. Only two more long runs before the race. I am really getting excited. I look forward to another inspirational week of following all of your running accomplishments.

    YAY tex I ran for 2 hours and 30 minute I am thinking I did 13 miles But I ahve no idea I was running like a snail but, Good news tooday the lactic build up wasn't bad at all so I think by body is finally adapting so I can go past this WOOHOOO.

      Great job, you guys!!! Wow, your progress just continues to amaze me!!

      Rest day for me today and that's a good thing as I try to get the blood in my ankles to ease up! My poor leg...its been a week since I fell and it is *still* so daggoned sore! I did work in the backyard today, trimming bushes and cutting palm tree branches. Also had some fish pond cleanup to do now that its finally cooling down to agreeable levels. I love fall in Florida!

      I'm going out to wash my car now .. Some rest day, eh?

        Hi everyone. Man, I'm beat. Curling two hours Friday night (didn't get home from the rink until 1:30 am), swam 400m Saturday morning, got home had a shower got changed and drove into the city to see the Opera (Carmen, it was fantastic, what can I say, I'm an opera buff), got home late again, then got up early this morning for a SIX HOUR curling clinic! Can you say sore? Oh, but it's also my long run day to after getting home from the clinic I ran for 90 minutes. Now I'm dripping with sweat and still have to make dinner! I'm thinking I'll be sleeping good tonight.

          3 miles for me this morning.

          I pushed myself for the first 2.25, which I finished in 22:38!!!

          The last .75 mile loop was a cool down, alternating jogging & walking, and I still did the whole 3 miles in 33:00. I can't wait for that 5k in 2 weeks!

            I have made a decision I am going to train for the full marathon I need to do this for myself and I am soo proud of me. I want to know if I can do this what a wonderful achievement now I need to find me a full marathon to run. Isn't this exciting just the thing I need to push me farther I am a lean Mean Running Machine.

                Woo Hoo, Sarah! That's awesome and I know you can do it.

                I took a rest day Sunday and yesterday because I've had some odd muscle weakness lately. Strangely, I thought I might have taken my carbs down too much and so I had a small bowl of whole wheat pasta on Sunday night but that didn't seem to help much. I don't know how to explain the problem except that it just feels like my leg muscles are tired. They're not sore or anything, and maybe it's related to how worn out I am. Anyway, I feel a bit better today and I'm going to do 4 miles tonight if they hold up!

                  Reveal are you ovulating or getting close to TOM I get that around that time actually I have that now it feels like ya got led in your legs. It will pass as your homones do their thing I know that from what I go through every month. LOL. Another thing are you drinking enough water. be sure your electolights are up. The littel trick I ahve found that works wonders is I have this celtic sea salt you can't buy it just anywhere usually a health food store. Well it has minerals in it and is extremely good for hydration. I put 2 pinches of the salt in every bottle of water I drink. It helps immencely with that. Also are you taking Vitamins that may be another cause if you are not taking potassium and your vitamin mineral suppliment it may be from that.

                  I hope that helps.

                  I took yesterday off cause i felt like crud this cold is really getting me down I am running today of course I need to do that to get to my goal. I am so excited to go to the next level.

                          I AM NOT RUNNING TONIGHT. Yep, you heard it right.

                          I've learned over the past few weeks that taking break isn't all bad. Last night I ran hard and well .. probably due to the fact that I have had lots of rest days lately. So my new strategy will be Mon, Wed, Thurs & Saturday. To heck with making 1400 miles this year. I want to run WELL on the days I choose to run, instead of chalking up lots of half-hearted miles. I think I was burning myself out when I was running upwards of 40 miles a week. There's a point at which it becomes drudgery and its not fun any more. That's when you have to cut it back.

                            ok seriously please step away from Betty's computer and leave her house immeidatley. Do not harm her or her DH.

                            JK. I am feeling ya a little bit. Because of the upcoming race I am feeling like I have to run instead of I want to run.

                            I think we all have cycles. I would not be suprised if in a few weeks or months you decided to up your milage again. Change is good. Hugs to you.

                              Four miles last night in the wonderful cool autumn weather. I ran 3.5 before really feeling it, and the last .5 was reallllly slow. *g* I'm all kinds of sore today, for some reason, but that'll go away soon.
