  • LA Marathon and Pacific Shoreline Half Marathon

Hello all you runners (or joggers...like me!) I am excited to announce that I have been training for the LA Marathon (March 19, 2006). It is now official because I paid the dues : ) and because I jogged 10 miles on Sunday!!! I am so excited and the Pacific Shoreline Marathon which is 2 miles from my house, falls during my training, so I am going to run the half marathon as training for the LA Marathon! How great is that. I'm really excited about this!

Sarah (iyamamaschke) - I noticed that you are training too, way to go!

For all of you starting to walk/jog/run and be active…go for it!

My doctor actually “prescribed”, well suggested training for a marathon to help with my weight loss, so I’m doing it. I trained 8 years ago but hurt my knee and couldn’t do it then! : (

So I’m following doctor’s orders and I’m not losing, but I wore (not just tried on) a pair of slacks that I haven’t been able to fit in for at least 2 years, and I wore them to work, no problem.

So, I must be gaining a lost of muscle, right? : )

    Anyway, wish me luck!!!!

Good job -- you convinced me I am going to run that 10k. Your commitment to training awes me. Good luck, but I know you'll do great!

Whoo--Hoo. Awesome. Yep that muscle slows down the weight loss for a bit, but as all our great mods remind us--people see how you look, not a number. I am so proud for you. I have 3 years to do a Marathon--before I am 30. I am not nearly as ambitious as you and Sarah tho, I want to get a few more halfs under my belt before I go for the biggie. I can't wait to read about your progress. Way to go.

Kent – Definitely go for it! You will feel such a great sense of accomplishment and you might get a medal? Good Luck!

Thanks 2Big!!! It’s hard work, but it is paying off.

Texwife – Thanks for the reminder…..they see me not the number….hmmmm…

Well I’m 27, but will be 28 8 days before the marathon.

The original date had been March 5th so I would’ve run it being 27 still, but I’ve been trying to get back into training (mentally and physically) since I hurt my knee the first time I was training.

Good luck to all those training and all those exercising : )

          Stay safe.

The marathon sounds great!! Good luck to you and keep training!! Remember not to increase your distance more than 10% a week though .. or you risk injury.

My goal is to do a marathon eventually, but first, the WDW halfer in January, followed by the Gasparilla halfer in February. Depending on whether I survive those two, I may sign up the full WDW marathon in 2007.

Gotta take it slow at age 50!
