It looked harmless enough.
I mean, really. It looked harmless.
I did a Callanetics tape (picked it up from the library) when I first started working out about 3 years ago and I must have totally half-@ssed it because I don't remember it being ugly at all. I've recommended it to people looking for something extremely low impact - and it *is*, but
!
Well, I've been following a thread on another board quite intently about Callanetics, so I decided to invest in a set of VHS tapes (the DVDs are outrageous and I thought I'd go cheaply and see what I really thought before I'd add them to my DVD collection). I picked up a total of 6 VHS Callanetics tapes and I was hesitant to pick up Beginning Callanetics because I figured it would probably be too slow/easy for me. I consider myself to be in pretty good shape, ya know?!
Well, let me tell you. I'm *GLAD* I picked up the Beginning Callanetics tape and started there. There was an exercise in there that I'm not strong enough to do even ONE of in an un-modified form!! Holy crap!
In all fairness, the workout is EXTREMELY gentle on the body - meaning back, neck, joints, etc. I'm talking next to no impact what-so-ever. She's painstaking in demonstrating form and explaining what she's doing on this tape. She has an advanced Callanetics godess (LOL) show perfect form on the first set and then she has a bunch of regular people with varying issues from someone who's had back surgery to an 80 year old woman do the exercises and all the various modifications it takes to get them done. It was really cool.
And hard!!
This isn't an aerobic work out at all, but very deep tissue muscle contractions.
I'll let y'all know if I hate her at the end of the week or not. Heck, I might have an idea as early as tomorrow afternoon when I wake up. LOL!!! In this case, hating her is a *good* thing!
Anyone else out there have experience with Callanetics?

Of course, you would have to add that to the Walk away weights, 4 mile walk, slim in six and all the other exercise stuff I have asked for. I still need a program to work this huge belly. I am thinking of getting one for people who have had quadruplets if they make such a thing.
