Quote form a cycling forum. Any comments?

To effectively lose weight on a bike you need to do at least one low intensity 2-3hrs session a week ( as well as your commute ) as this will use your fat stores as fuel. I recommend building up to this over a few months and before you know it the weight will fly off - provided you have a healthy balanced diet (the odd treat is allowed too).

Don't skip meals, be patient and keep at it....you will see - although I think 3 weeks is to soon to see results.
Atkins didn't say 'Calories don't count',
    he said, 'Don't count calories.'

Atkins makes exercise mandatory - I took up cycling - see last pics at 203lb.

    Re: Long Bike Rides

first remember they assume you are a high carb eater so they want you to exercise in aerobic conditions so you have exhausted your muscle stored glycogen reserves and are calling out the fat reserves but not triggerrring the organ stored glycogen for burning.

it is about the same as a sprinter burns his sugar stores and can't maintain his speed for more then a 44 while a distance can go many many milkes burning fat stores
