  • What's in your home gym?

I thought it might be fun to share what we use at home, maybe if nothing else, to give anyone an idea what they can do from home.

    I have:
    • A Concept2 rowing machine
    • Smooth 9.1 treadmill
    • Image 510 Home Gym
    • 1 &5 pound ankle/wrist weights
    • Videos from Tammilee Web for Abs, buns of legs of steel
    • Mat for abwork

The Image 510 machine I actually scored used for less than $100 and I've used it. It's an excellent machine with a lot of stations to it and allows me weights up to 200 pounds, so it's not something I'm going to outgrow anytime soon.

The Concept2 rowing machine I scored from craigslist here in Denver for a good price and we've used it pretty much everyday since bringing it home. It's quiet, durable, comfortable, and its features make it something I highly recommend as an all-over body workout. I use this, especially on days I work out my arms. Rowers use them to train in the off-season, and there are digital readouts and a card which can be programmed for your individual workouts.

The Smooth 9.1 Treadmill I did purchase new after a great deal of research into the product. I've lost a lot of weight walking on it, and with its powerful motor and extra long and wide belt, it worked as well when I was at 325 pounds as it does where I'm at now. It was spendy, but I'd spoend it again in a heartbeat. It is that worth the money.

    Everything else is self-explanatory.

So what's in your home gym?

I just have a pair of dumb bells. I use the gym in my local town for the rest of it.

We did this awhile back (with pictures) and the variety was awesome!

The pictures are still on my server- hurray! Here they are:

This is my living room workout station.
I've got the Fanny Lifter, Sculpting Stick, a Balance Ball, 2 small balls for additional ab work, several hand weights, a Rebounder, resistance bands, stretchy bands, my yoga mats, and a set of Nautilus Select-Tech Dumbbells (they go from 5lbs to 52.5lbs each and were worth every single penny!).

My video collection. There are all workout videos.
Here's a link if anyone is actually bored enough to want to be able to see what's all in that library (it's a big picture file): http://www.brookjay.net/bigvidiot.jpg

Wow! Brooke I'm so jealous! I have a manual treadmill that I don't actually use anymore (although it's nice for hanging the "fine washables" from). A set of 5lb weights, 1.5 lb weights, resistance bands. I also have a few exercise videos but my current faves are WATP because they don't require a great deal of hand-eye-foot coordination. I have an ab roller too, but I don't use it. I probably should haul that thing out of the closet. Other than WATP, I just go to the gym for all my workout needs. It's only 3 blocks away.

I'm trying to get a Tony Whatshisname poster for where my Gazelle is so I can run faster and try to catch him to kick his butt and steal his energy.

At home I have hand weights, exercise ball, ab lounger, and some DVD's. I go to the gym for all the big equipment, as I don't have the room for it at home, wish I did though. I envy you Brook! What a fabulous set up you have there!

Well, I guess I might as well chime in here too.....

Currently I have the following equipment in my home gym (listed in order of use): Proform crosswalk treadmill, Soloflex Weight Machine, Edge 309 stepper, Schwinn stationary bicycle, NordicTrac Ski Machine, Ab Swing, Dumbbell set and numerous aerobic/step aerobic tapes. I've decided that my next purchase will either be a rowing machine or elliptical machine but this is still sort of up in the air. My wife loves the elliptical (and I hate it) while I love the rower (and she hates it). Maybe we can compromise and get what I want.
Most of the equipment I have was picked up used for a fraction of the cost of new. I honestly love my home gym, especially in the summer months. In the fall and winter months I spend at least a couple of hours a day playing racquetball and spend most of my time at our local gym but once summer gets here....it's all about getting my workout in quickly so I can get out and enjoy the warm weather and sunshine.
