  • Neoprene Waist Belt

I bought one of these belts today, and also some ankle wieghts from Sports Academy.

What I am wondering, is how long you should wear the belt...and if its safe to sleep in? Does the heat retention it creates actually help melt the pounds?

    Thanks for your answers,

Those belts are a sham. They cause you to sweat, but sweat from lack of free-moving oxygen isn't what causes weight loss other than from some water. Weight loss happens the old-fashioned way! Those neoprene belts are just a girdle, and the only thing you lost was a few bucks.

Well thank goodness it was only $3.87..hahaha

I have been using my leg wieghts everyday..I put them on under my clothes..and walk with them while I am at work..I have an office job, so it doesn't require alot of walking..but I am doing alot of leg stretches and such under my desk..and I use them when I walk on the treadmill everyday when I get home..I figure it couldn't hurt..

      Thank you for the answers..!

Laura-- way to go on using the leg weights! I think that's definitely a step (get it? pun...) in the right direction! I am thankful you only spent $3 on that! Now they're making a come-back and I have a bad feeling a lot of people are going to buy them for a lot more than you spent! I'm also seeing those plastic sweatsuits again!

            Re: Neoprene Waist Belt

Well to be perfectly honest, my excercise routine is pretty stupid...But whatever works right?

In the morning when I get up, I start off with some stretching and pilates. I downloaded some pilate videos on limewire I use to work out to. Then I get on my treadmill with my leg wieghts on and walk 1.5 miles. Then I shower and go to work.

On the way to work, I make funny faces and grinch my face all up in distorted ways..gritting my teeth etc...trying to rid myself of that double chin..haha

At work, whenever I get a chance, several times during the day (our office isn't a busy one) I get up out of my chair and do some stretching, waist rotations, arm rotations, leg lifts..etc. I do this all threw the day.

After I come home, I walk another 1.5 miles for a total of 3 miles a day. I usually walk on my treadmill at a fast paced walk..usually 3 or 4..with a 2 inch incline right now. Feels like walking threw sand, but is getting easier to do.

When I am laying in bed, I do leg lifts and leg rotations...till I give up for the day and go to sleep.

That is the extent of my excercise that I am doing daily. May not seem like alot, but I wasn't doing much of anything in the way of excercise besides lifting my arm to feed my mouth another chip or something..haha

I know that I'll eventually increase my walking distance and begin running at some point...And I am joining the YMCA after the beginning of the year so I can use their excercise equipment..a customer of ours works there and is getting me a discounted membership...

But does this sound like a good start for someone that is just starting out?
