              Great job, Sarah!!!

I slacked today ... I worked so hard at work .. I was physically SPENT after 8 grueling hours.

That's my excuse and I'm stickin' to it!

Re: Cool Running for the week of December 11, 2005

Haven't been posting this week--last week of school before Christmas holidays is always crazy! I DID run, though...Anyways, after a 10 mi training run last Sat that resulted in injury where I had to walk for about a mi of it--brought my time up to 1:46:00--10 min slower than the last time I ran 10 mi...--discovered I had tendonitis in 2 of my tendons in my foot/ankle. It was being caused by my 2 month-old Sauconys that I only wear on Saturdays...Apparently when I switched from my Brooks Adrenalines--which I loved, but thought needed more forefoot cushioning for my neuroma--I switched to a shoe that had more stability than my old one, and the heel was slanted in such a way that those 2 factors combined were making my foot supinate and not be in alignment, straining those tendons. I had also switched from my old shoes, because they were a size too small--they should have told me to get the next size up when I purchased them in September. SO, Thursday I bought the 3rd pair of shoes I'd purchased since September--from a pedorthist as opposed to my running specialty store, as they had sold me 2 pairs of shoes I can NO LONGER WEAR. I need orthotics (which I knew, but had been making do with some over the counter ones under my insoles for the time being), but just buying new shoes (back to Adrenalines) in the CORRECT size made all the difference in the world yesterday for our 25K Benchmark run--15.5 mi--my FIRST time at that distance. It went well--rain had been forecast, but thankfully it didn't--just cold. Haley and I decided to take it SLOW today--I was still healing, and we didn't want to completely done in. So we finished in 2:51:50--a good bit slower than our usual pace, but hey, we finished it, I didn't stop at all, and I felt like we could keep going--makes the marathon distance seem actually doable for the first time, Of course, I soaked in an ice bath, and I'm pretty sore today--especially navigating stairs, but this week is a recovery week--shorter runs--so I am sure I'll be fine. NExt Sat is a short (never thought I'd say THAT) run of 8 mi, so should be fairly easy, buit the challenge will be doing it by myself in an unfamiliar place (for running, that is)--we will be at my grandparents' house in La. I am borrowing my friend's GPS, though, so I should be able to get all of the miles in... Have a good week everyone!
