I just watched one of those paid programs on the turbo jam. I looked up this product and found some real reviews. Some favorable and some not, what i would call typical reviews of any products. My question is 1) has anyone tried this product and 2)what kind of products have u guys tried from Tv. I have the firm, but with me being 220pounds its hard on my knees, but i love it.

Oh boy, Qiana - are you in the right place. heh heh
Turbo Jam, in my opinion (and the other ladies will come a'postin' in short order I'm sure) rocks. The music is awesome, it's fast paced but not difficult to follow, empowering and just plain fun.
We're starting a new challenge on January 9th using a Slim Series and Turbo Jam rotation. You can see what we're up to in the "Vidiots" thread here in the exercise forum.
As for what I have from TV that I can toss you opinions on:

Turbo Jam

Great Body Guaranteed
Power Half Hour
Fast 10

Re: Exercise videos from TV
As with all exercise programs, it's going to depend on how dilligent you are about getting your workouts in, how much effort and intensity you put into it and how clean you eat so far as what you can expect. TJ workouts are awesome. They're fun and because they're fun I find that they pretty much fly by. They're also sweat-fests!
Don't allow yourself to get discouraged with it (or any other program) starting out. No one expects that you're going to be able to keep up exercise for exercise, rep for rep, when you get going on this. Take your time, watch your form - USE the Learn 'n Burn tape for a good bit until you're really comfortable with the moves and the form that you're supposed to use. Don't be afraid to drop back to a march in place when you get winded - cuz you WILL get winded- and then get back in there when you recover enough to do so. It won't be long until you're knocking out the whole thing!
The beautiful thing about in-home programs is that you don't have to worry about missing a beat, tripping, falling (unless you hit your coffee table! OUCH!) or anything because no one is going to see you! You'll catch on sooner than you probably think!
We've got a Vidiot challenge starting up on the 9th. Our challenge is a Slim Series/Turbo Jam rotation, but we've got some in the group that will be using just Slim In Six and some that are talking about just using Turbo Jam and filling in the gaps. You're more than welcome to come and check us out and join us if you'd like
The Vidiots are a fantastic and supportive group and it's always nice to have partners in pain...errr fitness

Re: Exercise videos from TV
Hi! I started exercising close to 230 and am currently at about the same weight you are. I've never been active, so the video I like best is the Slim in Six series. I like it because it builds the strength before it dumps you into a whole bunch of cardio. The first of the series is just 25 mins long and is mostly doing things like squats, lunges, etc. The low impact stuff that actually helps out and I've seen lots of changes in my body using that one part of the program for 2-3 weeks. Just be sure to stretch really well before and after. Sometimes I have soreness in my knees while exercising but have found that it goes away if I keep up on my stretching and exercise. However, my soreness isn't from injuries or any impact - just the muscles pulling harder on the tendons. I hope we've been some help to point you in the right direction.27 F 5' 7"

Re: Exercise videos from TV
I think i will look into joining the challenge and also look into the slim in 6 program. I really love the firm but i get bored just doing the same things so i think that turbo jam might hold my interest since ur basically jumping around and dancing and having fun like a kid, lol. I am doing reshearch on the slim in 6 today and i will order either turbo jam or slim in 6 so i can join u guys in the challenge.
Thanks for all the info

Re: Exercise videos from TV
Everyone here seems to be in love with Slim in Six, however, my workout DVD set of choice is Power 90/Beach Body (www.power90.com). There are two discs, a beginner program and an advanced program. On each disc there is a weight workout (that you can do with either a set of free weights or one of those elastic dealies), an ab workout, and cardio. I've only done the beginner disc, but the strength training is 28 minutes and the cardio is 35, both including several water breaks and stretch time at the beginning and end. The ab workout is a series of 10 moves that you do for 10 reps and is about 5 minutes long.
I feel really worked out from head to toe whenever I get finished, very sweaty, but not frustrated and exhausted and sort of defeated like when I did something like Tae Bo. The guy who leads the workouts is really fun and enthusiastic, and it's the first program I've seen where they ENCOURAGE YOU to go at your own pace, take breaks, pause, and keep going instead of yelling at you to push it harder. They also give a ton of additional moves in case you can't do exactly what they are doing.
But the real reason I like it is there are countdown timers! Each segment of the workout, leg kicks, punches, etc is broken down into a segment and each segment times down so how you know how much is left. You can also see the entire workout timer count down while you see how many segments you've got done or are left to accomplish. This is the most encouraging thing for me--I hate guessing how much left there is to go or trying to memorize how much is left before the next break. There are also water breaks worked into the timing.
Anyway, I just got finished doing my cardio, so I was really enthusiastic and thought I'd share!Female, 21, 5'6"
