  • Walkin' on the treadmill backwards!?!?!?!?

Yeah! That truly is my question! Has anyone ever heard of this or even done this? I recently started doing it because I saw a guy friend of mine doing this. I asked him why, and he said it will strengthen your gluts and quads. Lord knows I need help to firm up these areas so I have been trying it. I have to slow the treadmill down quite a bit compared to walking forward and you need to place the treadmill at a pretty steep incline. I feel it really working the fronts of my legs, but I am wondering...is this really helping the ol' gluteus maximus? Is this a foolish thing to do?

Anyone with input...shoot for it...I am up to hearing any and all feedback I can on this technique.

    Thanks!

yep I love the backwards walking.

just make sure when you transition you go easy the first time and hold on if you are going to just turnaround while going forward cause unlike real ground your turning planted leg keeps moving backwards with the belt and your balance will niot be where it was when you started the turn.
