Oh I so don't blame him (on never wanting a pool). Sounds like he had a real basin full...or should I say a pool full!!
Amazing that someone would have the inclination (and/or money) to build the same pool three times! Gluttons for punishment... but then, to each his own. Give me the sea, lakes, rivers anytime!

well these are condo owners on the gulf of mexico with high insurance rates and the status of having their "private pool". to each his own.

i'm so glad we touched base in here. we are all busy with one thing or another but it's good to see we haven't just dropped by the wayside.

sadie, you'll get back in the swing of things as soon as the kitchen update comes to a close.

You're right Jimmie... it's been an age! Glad you're doing fine and all settled into your new home now.

I too am doing good and feeling good, which is just as well now that the summer (work) rush has started.

          How's everyone else doing?

i suppose every 30 days or so, we should get in here and check up on each other.

sadie, did the home improvements get done? gosh i hope so by now! how is your maintnance comeing along? staying within that 5 pound range of the goal weight?

sal, i know you'll be on top of everest soon so i know flights are coming along. are you all caught up the home/pool/rentals now? tell me a little about your pedometer numbers. do you wear your pedometer all day or just on scheduled walks.

i doing okay. took a much needed break from an overwhelming number of challenges and found myself doing more and harder work on the stab. ball. even did start it up again. i managed to get some biking miles in so it seemed to be a well rounded month. jack was able to do the 6 wec slug free and i've really enjoyed the walks with him.

Sounds good jimmie that you took a break from some of the challenges. They can be quite time consuming and hard work. Don't know how you do all you do! Nice too that you got some walks in with Jack. It's always great to have company when walking/exercising, isn't it? My companions are the doggies (of course) and lately, audiobooks!

Re the pedometer... yes, I wear it all day long. But my days steps vary substantially. Have a feeling I'm not gonna make target this week as tomorrow will be in the car alot. Oh well... there's always next week! Have you decided on a target yet?

Tks for asking about pool and rentals etc. All ok (pool crisis over... phew!) and we're settled into the summer season now. So far so good. Busy as usual, but this year that "busyness" seems to be largely due to other things... I have another online commitment and the various other restoration projects are taking time too. Better than being bored though...

Sorry jimmie... this wasn't quite accurate. I wear it all day long except for my "step" activity... though I'm not quite sure why I take it off for this, I just do!!

i did decide on a target of 65,000 steps per week. that might be overshooting things but i wanted to make it a challenge. it might require an extra walk or two. i'll only be wearing the pedometer when i actually go for walks so we'll see how that all works out.

it seems like we do very good in the spring and summer time.

oh sal, remember the hibiscus i planted out front for the whammy challenge? they are blooming like crazy! it's just so much prettier out front with those flowering so much. ds has his stuff out of the basement now so i can have my clean basement back. we had a small amount of water coming through the walls and it was coming in right on the christmas stuff. it was like doing the whammy challenge all over again. i had to rearrange things to get the christmas boxes off the wet wall. jack is bringing me some pallets from work to get everything off the floor. but all in all, the basement is still organized very nicely.

We have the same pedometer goal! Overshot that the week before last and didn't make it this week! As soon as I do, I'm going for 70,000. Think I'm gonna have to jog at the kitchen sink!

Hibiscus sounds wonderful! Do take a pic to share!!!
Sorry to hear you had to re-start in on basement work. It's such a pain when basements get water seeping in. I remember my dad always having to pump out his basement in Scotland... a major job.

ours is just a small leak. jack stuck his finger over the hole pretending to the "plug the dike". lolol what a beanhead.

i wanted all 3 bushes to flower out at once before taking a pic. that would be really pretty. i'll keep watching them and grab just the right moment to take a picture.

you've given me hope. maybe i can reach that goal after all.

look sal! i was getting ready to go mow and viola! all three are bloomed out at the same time!

Just wanted to pop in and say hi to my old friends, I think a few are still around Hope everyone is doing well.

I am OK. Maintenance has been really a challenge for me, I'm MORE obsessed with food and scale than ever before!!! I'm working on the emotional side of things, because I tend to see food as a reward, expecially illegal treats than I can eat on occassion w/o consequences so far. I also eat at night because I'm lonely and alone and I KNOW that's counter productive. I need to find some healthier activities to fill that need, because I am still going to be alone, Pat travels all week now, and it's totally worth it, I just need to figure out how to occupy my time more conttructivelly. Heaven knows there are things I can do

Exercise is not regular or official, but I break a sweat every day with my kids, wrestling or tickling or racing or whatever. So I'm OK with that for now.

Hope you guys are all doing well and thanks again for all the hard work you do on this forum, the veterans keep it right

                          Hugs
                          Denise
What is it, a RACE? It's coming off, right????

Denise! Nice to see you! So glad you popped in again.

I so know where you're coming from when you talk about being even more obsessed by food etc in maintenance. I lean the exact same way, and also try to keep the emotional side in check.

Sorry to hear you're alone such a lot, but you've got the right idea in trying to find some activities that aren't food related to fill the gaps. After a long day of mothering small kids, one wants somethig relaxing, but distracting. Not so easy to find, but I'm sure you'll have a brainwave soon.

Stick with it, and keep us posted every now and again.

Wow it's been a while since i've seen this thread!

Glad to see you back Denise...I too struggle with the food obsession, especially the occaisional treat, which i have to keep a close eye on that they don't become more frequently than just occaisional.

How's everyone doing with their exercise?

I've been horrible with exercise. I ran a charity 5k at the end of Sept that i was actually surprised i could still do since i was so out of practice. That was a bit of a push for me to get back into it, of course, then i got really busy with work, left my running shoes at the cottage..excuses, excuses. I was actually going to start back up again today after a week off...my problem is I know i'll start using the bad weather, which is jsut around the corner, as my excuse.

I'm going to have to push myself to start doing pilates/weights again.

sal, i'm keeping pace with you on your flights. i check your siggy a couple times a day to see how many i have to do. be gentle with me. lol

sadiejen, you ski in the winter, right? that will be coming soon. will that help keep the exercise going? sometimes just a change in routine or activity is all that is needed.

maintenance woes for me. i've been struggling somewhat and been sharing that with silly and floyd via email each day.
exercise has been good although i've kinda been slow at it this week. i'm really liking the pedometer challenge. i am using my 3 pound dumbbells when i walk now. not each time but 2 or 3 times a week. that's a pretty good work out.
