ME TOO! I'm more obsessed with my food and exercise than EVER. I weigh and measure EVERYTHING now. I weight train, run and do yoga a couple times a week. I'm still trying to lose body fat. It's working because I'm pretty much wearing a size 10 in almost every brand now....and I can squeeze myself into some size 8 skirts and dresses.

Denise, have you considered getting some yoga tapes you could do in the evening with your kids? it's so relaxing and a great way to unwind.

BTW, I'm so glad to see you!!

On the exercise front, I've been miserable lately too. Reduced flights, no workout because of an injured knee, and down here in the islands no doggies to walk. I don't take the car much here though, which helps.
So far, no apparent ill effects weightwise, but it's hard to keep the carbs/cals lower than usual to compensate so I'm anticipating a whooshie in the wrong direction.
Gotta get in gear, with or without an injured knee, and find some alternatives to the usual.

Kudos to you Joy, for the size 10s!

sadiejen, you ski in the winter, right? that will be coming soon. will that help keep the exercise going? sometimes just a change in routine or activity is all that is needed.

thanks for the reminder Jo! you know..i'm going to make a point of getting the skis out and getting them ready, x-country skiing is great exercise, though last year we had a bad winter for snow..too little, then in Feb too much, this year i hope will be better. thats why this thread is great, i had forgotten all about my skis!

Congrat's joy on the size 10 and on keeping up with the exercise..i find that part very difficult even though i know it's a huge part of my maintenance.

Hey guys, me again. about 6 weeks later. Making progress on the other than eating things, esp since I work in retail now...I'm too exhausted to get off the couch to find a snack. Too much work. But, I'm actually 5 days in to induction (which SUCKS after getting to MAINTENANCE). I read Atkins for Life again, and he reiterates the benefits, including detoxing from sugar, realigning the true appetite...gosh there was another really good one, but it escapes me! Anyway, I don't need to lose per se but I was letting too much good carbs like corn (well, it's not the worst!), whole grain and legumes in I guess, because I just felt bloated, puffy like, not lean like I did immediately upon maintenance.

So, day 5, I'm through the worst of the flu, and the puffiness is totally gone, and the energy is BACK. I got so many projects done today!!!! I have tomorrow off, then a trip Dec 12-14 for Pat's year end thing, and then I have off Dec 18, 22, 23, 25 and 26. It works out to the same 8 days off that anybody would get, but it sure LOOKS like it is going to stink! I think the worst will be that it's all lumped together like that, y'know?

Anyway, hope everybody wraps up their year happy and healthy, and thanks yet again for all your support and encouragement.

Oh, Joy, yoga was not a great fit for me. I did it twice with the kids, but it seemed like I had to actually concentrate, I'm not very coordinated LOL. But it gave me some great quicky stuff to do here and there, y'know? Thanks!

              Hugs to all!

hey denise! good to hear from you!

i had to get hold of things too. i lasted about 2 minutes on induction and decided to hit rung 1 instead. moved very quickly up the rungs like i was supposed to do. pretty much been a grand journey except this last week which has been a hormonal nightmare.

i'm good on track with most everything.

Denise! Nice to see you again.
Sorry to hear you had to go back to induction again, but I hear you on the bloaty feeling, when you let too many carbs back in. Glad you've got your Atkins energy back again!

                  Thanks for the update.

Jimmie... didn't realise you re-inducted. Bet you're glad that's over! Have your hormonal issues settled now?

it was a secret. it's what led to the novel of a post that i wrote in our book reading about the rungs and the 5 grams. i mucked it all up the first time and luckily i still i lost the weight but this time i did it right.

nada on the hormonal issues. still dealing. i'm doing this and that and trying to figure out whats going on. not stressing over it though. it's just a hassle to mess with.

Ahhh, yes of course... your interesting OWL post in the book reading!
I hear you on the hassle of hormonal issues. I'm battleing with hot flushes at night these days, so get even more interrupted nights than usual.
Hope yours (hormonal issues) settle down soon.
