If so, what did you think? Did it work, was it comfortable, etc?

Re: Has Anyone Tried the Ab Lounge??
It is comfortable, and while I find it easier than doing crunches and situps on the floor, I definitely feel it. You have to make sure you are using the muscles you were meant to! (work that tummy, not your legs)

Re: Has Anyone Tried the Ab Lounge??
I have never used one but most items like this are usually gimmick based into making things easier, “EASY SELLS”. The problems with easier is that your usually not hitting all the muscle's you would doing it without the particular piece of exercise equipment.
There's not much equipment you should need in exercising your abs. Most of mine require nothing more then me and the floor and maybe holding some weight added for resistance.
There's an excellent book I started with called "
The Complete Book of Abs by Kurt Brungardt" It has a ton of different exercise's you can do without any equipment at all. Just take things at the level you can start with and continue to progress slowly. When I first started it I had just herniated 2 disks in my back and had to take it real slow but eventually reached my goals.

Re: Has Anyone Tried the Ab Lounge??
Not the ab lounge but I do have an ab roller, which I find works well for isolation exercises. It also makes it seem easy, until the next day when you try to get out of bed.
Plus it was only about $15. But nothing replaces situps and crunches. Toes under the couch for me.Jim

Yes I'm eating a smore in the picture, how do you think I got so fat?

Re: Has Anyone Tried the Ab Lounge??
I guess it depends on what you have to lose and the shape you're in, I would definitely recommend and "easy sell" if you're overweight to the point that you can't even do one situp and would like to do something. Different things work for different people, I guess that's why the millions of dieters out there are using different diets and making them work.
Personally, I got the ab lounge because I had surgery and had all my stomach muscles cut through, making it almost impossible to move those muscles at all, I've lost the feeling in the area around that incision, and it was recommended to me, because I could start without having to strain those muscles an incredible amount, since in the time since my surgery they had basically atrophied. It's getting better now, thank god, I can actually MOVE my stomach around by tensing up those muscles!

Re: Has Anyone Tried the Ab Lounge??
Casey, an exercise ball is great and studies have shown they are very productive. One point I'll make about them though, they are not easy. It took me a while to stop falling off the damn thing...

Re: Has Anyone Tried the Ab Lounge??
I haven't personally tried the ab lounger, but my brother, who is in great shape but does have a history of back problems/surgery, bought one and returned it because he said it caused strain on his back. Not sure why.
Like others mentioned, I love using the ab roller especially when getting back into doing ab work because when my abs aren't strong and I start doing crunches, I have a tendancy to get my neck too involved in the movement. With the roller, my neck isn't an issue, the movement is isolated and I can really concentrate on just the area I want to work.
I recently got an exercise ball and I love using it for ab work as well because I find it gives great lower back support and that has helped me add about 20 more crunches to my workout.Jen

Addyosu - Good idea...pushups....It came with a video I should watch again, for ideas. I did 20 crunchies Sat and 30 on Sunday. I should do more, but it hurt : ) in a good way and I am just a little sore in my abs today. I am going to incorporate more crunchies for sure : )

Re: Has Anyone Tried the Ab Lounge??
Okay I have to chim in! I have the Ablounge and I love it!
I do 500 crunches a day, and this thing gave me a fun for my money. You use NOTHING but your stomach muscles when done correctly. The video it comes with has different phases where you do different thing to up the intensity, and really work the muscles.
For example, it comes with a bar/ straps at the top and you are supposed to put your arm straight through it, straight up, but not use it as leverage. Then, you put you feel on TOP of the foot rest, so your heels rest on it and you can't use that for leverage either. The ONLY thing that will move you is your abs. That's one of the harder workouts, and believe me, it works. My stomach was BURNING that night.
I do recommend this, and for me, it was great to be off the floor.
I do enjoy the traditional sit-ups/crunches, but this prevents me from straining my neck...which I always do.
I hope this helps!!*Dieting makes you look good with your clothes on...exercise make you look good with them off.*
