Re: Cool Running for the week of January 22, 2006

OOPS I missed the thread and started another one OOOPS.

K didn't run today But did Yesterday was on a 2% incline the whole way I think I am gunna have to start over with my Buildup cause it was very hard to run for 1 hour on the incline I am sure I will build up fairly quick but, I am upset that I ahve to start over again.

So my mind was made up for my on the Marathon I have to do the Half my kids have their end of year recital the same day at 11 and 4 so in order for me to be able to go I will run the half in the morning and be able to watch them in the afternoon. I can't miss it and it's an all right trade off to be able to see my babies on Stage how exciting. The run luckily enough for me starts only about a block away from the recital how xool is that so I will be able to run then walk ovewr to the hall wher it's at. COOL hey.

Any how still going strong not running as much as I would like still 4 days though today was weight day.

    Workout went as follows.

Leg extensions 12x50,10x60,8x70,6x80,12x60, changeover front squats 12x30lbs
Stiff legged Deadlifts 12x90,10x100,8x110,6x120,12x100 cangeover leg curls 12x40
Standing Calf Raises 12x90,10,100,8x110,6x120,12x100, chqangeover seated calf raises 12x100
Sit up bench weighted sit ups 4 sets 12 resp 5 lbs, 2 set 12 reps no weight

Oh my word my abs hurt WOW I am sore, not so much in the legs which sucks but, my abs are aching.

What I did well I got out my Kitchen chair and did 20 minutes of Step ups now picture this 20 minutes and a 36 inche rise from the floor. This has been a VERY DIFFICULT week as I am withdrawing off my anti-depressants and its been sheer ****. I've dealt with horrendous dizziness and nausea to the point I could barely function. Haven't slept worth a crap.

BUT! I did manage a 7 mile run today. So yay me! And right now, its been 72 hours since I took any meds ... please God, get me through this!

Giving you a Huge HUG I had to go Off of Anti Depressants 2 years ago and it's no fun Just know that you will be better without them. I know you are doing the right thing WAY TO GO. You are strong but, if you need a sholder I am here for you no matter what.

So I ahve a shin splint in my Right leg rest ice recover I know I will take some days off. I was running outside on the ice and was of course slipping with every step I am sure that contributed to it. I hate being sore this Sucks. I did run though and had an asthma attack when I got home cause it's pretty chilly I could see my breat only +4 but nice I ran in a short sleved shirt and my white track pants are mud up the back LOL. Oh dear what do you do. I loved it outside my legs could ahve gone for hours But my lungs are really lacking when it comes to outdoor running they just don't like it. GRRRR.

                  I better be off

Oh Sarah!! Girlie, you take it easy. I know how nasty asthma is .. I had cold-weather-related asthma when we lived in Nebraska and I hated it!

Thanks so much for your encouragement .. these have been very difficult days.. tomorrow I am taking the day off from work. Gad, I want to be free of these nasty antidepressants. Ya gotta wonder what damage they do to your brain if the withdrawal is this horrible. I will NEVER EVER take them again.

Lord, just get me through it!

Thanks, Sarah! You know I love ya!

16.25 miles done on Saturday on the trail. I wanted to go for 22, but I decided not to overdo it. It took me about 3 hours, so it was a good workout.

I think DH and I are going bike riding this afternoon for a little cross training. Its a beauty of day .. nothing like enjoying exercise in the fresh air!

                          Have a great weekend everyone!

                            21.5 MILES!!!!!!!

Yep, 21.5 miles with Round Rock Fit and Austin Fit--in the POURING RAIN!!! I did it though, with some planned walk breaks (usually 30 sec or so--not all that many), as well as pausing at streetlights, waterstops, a potty break, etc... We finished in 4:25:00--so, obviously not fast, but I made it without massive limping/major pain, etc. My orthotics have really helped my IT Band issue--it did twinge a bit, though, but mostly b/c of the dampness--excuse me, MONSOON...Lots of stiffness in the joints...Mentally, though a MUCH better experience than the 20-miler race I did a few weeks ago--we had a lot of fun with the group we were running with, yelling cadences, etc.--lots of motivating people who stuck together. I will say, we were ecstatic to see the end, and the rain let up on us for the last 1.5-2 mi, so that was great--the sun even came out. With 2 of these really longer runs under my belt, I am feeling a lot better about the marathon--3 weeks from today! Now, we taper...

My favorite item while running in torrential rain--my hat--if you don't have one, get one!

My favorite items while running that distance--my SHOES (find the best for you--they make all the difference) and my orthotics...

My favorite thing to do once home--ICE BATH!!! Followed by a cleansing warm shower and PJs...

                            Happy running!
