    Re: Eliptical vs Treadmill

I really prefer the Elliptical machine over the treadmill. I try to rotate on them but honestly I can hardly stand that treadmill. It's boring to me even when I do have music on. But the Elliptical machine works my upper and lower body and I don't get as bored on it.

      Re: Eliptical vs Treadmill

I too had this same debate lately...

Well I ended up with the treadmill, since I do run I figured it was probably my best bet, and it's far more likely my husband will use it too. There is way to much snow here now to run outside, so my running has dwindled to nothing.

The one I ended up going with however is called a 'cross walk' a treadmill but with 'arms' i guess similar to eliptical arms, that are also tension adjustable. More like nordic walking or xcountry skiing?

Now the biggest problem is getting it put together . It's been sitting in the dining room over a week now still in the box LOL.

I love the elliptical. I am going about 1 hour and 15 minutes on it 5 times a week. The new challenge for me is going backwards. Also, I would love to conquer the stair master, can't last on that thing more than 5 minutes.

the stairmaster is great, but you're right it does take a while to get used to it! I remember the first time I used it...when i got off i had to hold onto the wall, my legs where like rubber! I found that adding 2 mins at a time to work my way up worked the best...any more than that and my legs wouldn't forgive me!

              Re: Eliptical vs Treadmill

The only reason I preffer the tredmil is because I feel as if I'm accomplishing something when I can run really far. Like maybe if the zombie apocalypse happens, I'll have a better chance of surviving because I'll be able to run.

                Re: Eliptical vs Treadmill

I'm with you! I also feel like I have exerted more energy after the treadmill. I used to be all about the elliptical and almost feared the treadmill, thinking I couldn't run. However, now that I have been able to run on the treadmill. I have never felt better. If I have a bad day at work, especially, I feel the need to run it out. It's sort of like a punching bag for me! It's much better than sitting bingeing in front of the tv...another old habit of mine. Pre-Atkins.
