  • Am I eating too late?!?!

    I tend to work out at night, because I am a student and I work I never get around until working out until at least after 5:30 pm. I tend to go home de-brief from the day, change into work out clothes and typically always in the gym by 6:30 - 7pm....

    HOWEVER, I bust my bum working out with at least an hour of cardio most days and while this is great and all. It leaves me STARVING! Well not really. I think I could honestly go without food and just go to bed, but which is better?

    Eat late or not eat at all? help!

    I typically go to bed around 11 - 11:30 too because classes or meetings start at 7/8 am. I want to know your advice, because really I could do either but I want to do what is right. I will do anything to lose weight and maybe not eating will aid, but what does my fellow peers think?!?!

      Well I think there are differnt thoughts on this. I think for years it's been put in our heads not to eat after 7pm or we won't sleep...or we'll gain wieght. Personally when stuff happens and my eating schedules get messed up....I'll eat a hard boiled egg, some tuna in mayo or something like that before I hit the sack. Just to get something in my stomach...cause if I don't...the hunger will keep waking me up. I have yet to notice any ill effects from eating before going to bed. Good luck

        Adds, when else are you eating during the day? What time are you eating lunch? Are you eating a snack or dinner or anything before you work out?

        Sounds like you get done working out around 8:30 or so, then go to bed around 11... I think it's reasonable to eat then. I end up eating dinner around 7 or 7:30 a lot of nights and I usually go to bed around 10, and I haven't had any problems.

          you have2 issues one you said you were not hungry and the time of day.

          On Atkins we eat when we are hungry no matter how often or what time it is. So if you are hungry eat if you aren't don't.
          your cardio had you burning fats from your body for fuel do you really want to stop that by giving your body dietary foods to burn instead? Again if you are truely hungry eat if not don't

            For me, I can't eat before going to bed .. but its a YMMV thing.

            If you're hungry, I suggest some high protein and raw veggies ..

              Well... here in Italy no one eats before 8.30 at night, and everyone survives just fine. In Spain they eat at around ten o'clock at night.

              I usually eat around nine. Never noticed any ill effects.

              Like 2big says...eat when you're hungry...

                Oh yeah good point from Sal... my sister is in Spain right now, and they eat dinner at 10 every night!! She has already lost 5 pounds in the last month without even trying just because of the different culture and foods there.

                    Good for you. I was starving when I got home yesterday night at 9:30 even though I'd had an afternoon snack before I went to the gym and dinner after the gym, so I ate .75 oz of cheddar cheese! DEFINITELY a good thing to eat.

                    And today I'm just flat out having one of those STARVING days... I can't get enough to eat! So, I'm eating.

                      Hey friend - yeah, I think I am finally back in Ketosis because I am only hungry after I work out which makes sense to me. I literally am trying so hard.... so we will see if this all pays off. I will chat it up later and definitely tomorrow via email. I am off to work!

                        Yes, dinner is the only time I am hungry but it is do to my workouts - Which I am thinking of spreading those out too. Yesterday I worked out in the afternoon (skipped class) and then I went after work as usual too. It was beneficial because I am hoping to be in ketosis ... I am never quite sure though.

                          Dr Atkins definition of ketosis is burning fats for fuel so if you are only eatting from the lists you will be in ketosis
