Back on Atkins as of end of January.

Working on a 30-35 miles per week base to follow with a marathon
    training program starting in July.

Finished first marathon last October. Came back to Atkins to finally
lose this weight, keep it off, and improve my running.

Yesterday's run was 6 miles. Doing low heart rate base building training
right now. All miles below 70% heart rate. Currently, that means 13:35 minutes per mile . Should start getting faster in the coming weeks.

8 miles in on the treadmill tonight.

        Hey Betty, yup that's me.
The more I hang around here, the more pictures (not some of the names)
        I recognize.

I failed to make a lifestyle change I could live with the first time around. I don't think that other board helped me either. When I made the decision to do Atkins, I went back there and was disappointed at how "thin" the content and support was.

        Anyways,
Great to see you still running and cracking the whip on everyone.
I look forward to hearing about your marathon and a "lessons learned" about the training leading up to it.

Re: Cool Running for the week of February 5, 2006

Thursday: Just finished 6.3 miles in a stiff north wind. The temp was great, but with that wind, it was quite a good resistance run!

Rich, I am soooooooooooooo glad you're here!! Lots of great support, encouragement and butt-kickin' (when needed) on this board and in this thread particularly! Yes, I still crack the whip, but most of our devoted runners in this thread don't need it! Sarah is here, keeping EVERYONE (including me) inspired by the day!

Yes, the marathon training continues but I am starting to taper my miles a little. I know that's the right thing to do, but it sure feels like slackin' to me!! Anyway, this week will be 30 miles done .. next week probably closer to 25 as its my last full week before the big day on the 26th. Man, I hope I can do it!!!! Like Sarah has said, "I'll finish it, even if I have to drag my sorry @ss across that finish line!"

You are so right about the "other board" .. I have my secret connection over there (shhh, don't tell) so I can read the threads and it amazes me how little ATKINS is going on over there. Its more like a soap opera of DAYS OF OUR LIVES....ugh, who needs it.

          ANYWAY, GREAT HAVING YOU HERE!!!

17 miles done on Saturday morning. Took me 3 hours 20 minutes. Burned 1,380 calories.

I discovered a great energy drink today .. SoBe NO FEAR .. 16 oz .. 2 carbs. REALLY GOOD TASTING and it provided me all the energy I needed to finish my 17 miles. I'm gonna see if I can find this stuff cheap somewhere and plan to take it on my marathon journey.
