I hope I don't get lambasted for threadspamming (hahaha, yeah seriously, I don't--someone cuff me on the wrist if I'm being obnoxious), but I wanted to share some of the love!
DH and I were at Wal-mart last night where I was buying some fabric to make myself a new skirt to wear to a Valentine's Day dance and ending up buying a weight set. Our apartment is pretty much clogged with stuff so we got a 2-lb and 3-lb little neoprene dumbells for me (not great on upper body strength) and a long bar and two little dumbells that can be loaded with different weights (we have some two 2.5 lbs, four 5 lbs, and four 10 lbs) for him! He also bought me the WATP tape, because I'd mentioned I wanted to try to get my total workout up to somewhere near 60 mins a day (I do Dance Dance Revolution for 20 minutes a day right now, 6 days a week, and partner dance with him a couple times a week for 40-60 mins), and at least some of the WATP would be lower-impact than my DDR. He even bought me wrist weights to wear while dancing/WATP-ing.
His attitude toward health and exercise are completely changing! I'm so happy for him. Last night, he did his stress-overload workout thingie with the weights and printed out work-out schedules that he's filling in so he has a record of what he did and when. He used to lift in high school, but he quit going to the YMCA after a while because he was embarrassed to be lifting in front of the really, really muscular guys. But last night he told me, "You know, that was really stupid. Now that I'm older, I realize that I should just do what makes me happy and healthy and to
with the rest of the world."
