They were fun, I lost interest cause my shifts are on a week basis... but I would recomend it, They're wonderful people

I haven't done Curves, but a friend of mine at school goes and she LOVES it to death. She looks good--I mean, I can see a difference since she's been going. I don't know what she's doing for a diet. She's quite a bit thinner than I am, probably more around your weight 190, 195, possibly 200.
No stats. Not weighing anymore ever. Will post "before and after" pictures when I want to. The end.

My sister has been an aerobics instructor for nearly 25 years, and an instructor at Curves for about 2, maybe 3 years. She loves it and recommends it, and of course because of all of that she is in fantastic shape and I hate her.

            Re: Success with Curves?

I joined Curves when I first began low-carbing (well, after about a month of being lazy), moved and had to stop going, and finally just got to rejoin recently. I love it ... and that's saying something because I can be a real slug. I imagine it might be too easy for someone already in peak-condition -- though just getting moving and adding a little resistance training never hurt anyone! But for someone with a history of only spotty exercise, it's a godsend.

You workout as hard as you need to -- the harder you push on the machines or the more bouncy you are on the "recovery" pads, the more work you do. If my heartrate seems to climb too high, I can ease off a little. If it's not high enough, I can increase the intensity. It's not a difficult circuit, but very easy to tailor to your own needs.

And the fact that it's grrrrls-only is a huge plus for me with all my body-image issues that stem from being truly, hugely overweight for most of my life. The women range from 15 to 80 years old, come in all shapes and sizes, and are uniformly pleasant. I fit in. And that's something I've never said at any other gym, certainly.

My new Curves does a fantastic job of running little games and challenges, encouraging the women to chat amongst themselves and be friendly, and will apparently check up on you if you're absent too long! At the moment, we have teams running for the month of February, winning little heart stickers for ever inch or pound lost, for coming all 3 times during the week, for coming an extra Saturday, and for a host of other little things. The winning team gets t-shirts or something nifty. A completely unnecessary but rather fun thing to do!

Someday, I'm sure I'll leave Curves. When I've low-carbed myself into some semblance of shape, I'll probably want to go to a gym where I can do more "serious" lifting, for example. But until then, I'm very happy to have Curves in my life.

            Hope that helps.
