  • FIRM of Slim in 6?

Ok, first... I just started exercising with WATP this past week. I'm up to the two mile with weights... and I want to eventually do the 3 mile with weights... from there I'm thinking I'll want to do alternating days... walking one day, and one of these other work outs the next. I'm 24, I have a 2 year old who is in the room with me... I'm pear shaped. Which of these is best? What are the pluses and minuses of each?

They're both fantastic programs. They're both very aerobic and do a lot of toning.

The FIRM has *a lot* more choreography. If you're ...challenged in this area, the FIRM is going to have a much bigger learning curve.

The thing I really like about the FIRM is that they alternate between aerobic and toning/lifting exercises - they're constantly switching it up and it's nice. You work through a rotation of the videos (3 or whatever), so repitition isn't much of an issue.

You're going to need equipment for the FIRM as well. They use a fanny lifter/sculpting stick/transFIRMER (depending on which videos you get) and a set of 3/5/8lb weights to start.

Slim In Six is a great program (my all time favorite, really). It doesn't have much of a learning curve to it - it's really easy to follow (steps wise - it's gonna kick your butt! lol). It doesn't require much equipment - a resistance band and/or a set of 5lb dumbbells.

The biggest draw back is that it's repetitive as you go through the 6 week program (3 videos - done in progression. Master one, then move on to the next).

Regardless of which one you choose, if you work the program you're GOING to get results.

Re: FIRM of Slim in 6?

I just finished Slim in 6 and the Slim Series (12 weeks total) and I've ordered the Firm too, since I think it's time for something new. I haven't gotten my Firm tapes, yet though, so I can't do a direct comparison. From what I've heard, though Firm for a lot of people is a love it or hate it. It's more "slick" than the Slim stuff (studios, dancer types, outfits). One of the things I like about the Slim Series and Slim in 6 is the "realness" of both the people working out in the background and Debbie herself. Either Slim or the Firm will be a great kick your butt workout, though.
