  • How far would you travel for an event (i.e. race)?

As some of you know, my goal this year is to run in 12 races. Now I've begun looking for which ones I'd like to run. I'm curious how far people would travel to compete in an event.

I think for me 200 miles is the limit for now, if I get more serious I could make a case for travelling to a race.

Its funny you should ask actually Jim. i am running in a 5 k this weekend. And I have to travel 80 miles to run it!

One of my friends pointed out that I am travelling 80 miles to run just 3! LOL, but its all for a good cause, its in aid of Prostate cancer.

Wow that was quick Rich, I barely got the post up and you answered. I had to figure out how first, I don't have quite the poll experience as you, oh master of the polls.

I'd go anywhere assuming I had the funds. One half marathon I wanna run is about four hours drive from my place. It's supposed to be a beautiful run so I like that rather than a boring one close to home. I would love to do the Disney half marathon next year and I'd love to run the Paris or London half's. My first triathlon will be about a three hour drive for me but again really awesome location.

My hubby wants to do a marathon in Vienna, Austria in May. There is a jr marathon for kids (2.62 miles) that my dd is going to do.

I'm just the cheering section (as usual!).

Well, I've traveled to Disneyworld, which is 90 miles from my driveway!

Actually, DH and I are kicking around the possibility of going to Germany this fall (September 20th) and I'd love to run the Berlin marathon while we're there .. we'll have to see! Sure sounds exciting though!
