Every week, I look forward to Saturday.
Not just because its the end of a harried work week. Not just because I have the weekend of rest to look forward to. Not just because I have two days off of work.
Why?
Because Saturday is my long sustained running day. The day I proclaim "ME DAY". The day of the week that starts the way I dream everyday would start: with a nutritious breakfast, an hour to let it digest, and then a focused run on the trail of at least 12 miles.
I love running because it is ME time. I look forward to being out there early in the morning .. watching the sun rise .. listening to the birds sing .. watching the gators come out of the water to sunbathe on the bank of the ponds .. watching the squirrels chase each other up and down the oak trees..
Not much traffic out when I make my way across the intersection to the trail. Who in their right mind is up driving around before dawn on a Saturday morning anyway??
I am in my own little world; just me, my mp3 player .. tuned out of the world with all its cares and stresses .. and tuned in to the world within .. and what a beautiful world it is!
What would the world be without my therapeutic Saturday morning runs when I forget all the day-to-day demands and let my spirit fly as quickly and effortlessly as a 50 year old woman can!!!
I wouldn't miss this day for anything. Its my chance to unwind; to release the frustrations of the week; to burn off the anxieties and stresses that have built up over the past 6 days.
Some people say they don't have time to exercise. Life is too busy, they say. Well, for me, I wouldn't miss my Saturday morning runs for ANYTHING, too busy or not. Its so unbelievably worth it to me to take the time to step out of the busyness .. the harried life of the past 6 days and let it all "go" ...
I come home a new person .. revived and rejuvenated!!!
Take the time today to "get physical" .. you won't regret it, I promise!
