Re: Cool Running for the Week of April 9, 2006

Monday ran 3.8 miles then met up with my friend for a 4.5 mile walk.

Thanks Betty! I just have to be patient. I have never been one with a lot of patience. I do realize though that all this exercise has to be doing something. Even if I am not losing weight, it certainly is making me feel great!

I am taking one of my work colleagues under my wing and acting as a sort of personal trainer.

I am taking her for a 2 mile road run tonight. I want to start her off slowly as she is a beginner.

Wednesday: 6.3 miles in. Had to dodge a 6' alligator enroute .. he was hanging out near the sidewalk where I typically run .. so I took the high road for a while until I was safely past him!

Betty, I know I have probably asked you this before. But typically, how long does it take you to run 6 miles?

6 miles? Right about an hour, sometimes less. Now, the weather is getting pretty HOT here, so I pace myself accordingly. Might take me longer, but in this heat, I like to SURVIVE, yanno? But in the "winter", I can do 6 in under an hour. Bear in mind, "winter" here is around 50 degrees. Summer on the other hand ...

                        Tuesday ran 4 miles.

Sarah - I'm not the expert you are looking for but my suggestion would be to take the day off from running or just go for a nice leisurely walk to loosen up. You are right to listen to your body - if you don't you may be sorry in the long run (no pun intended ha ha).

Good for you Richt for taking out a novice. How did she do? She doesn't sound like too much of a novice if she was able to run 2 miles. Good for you both!

She's an ultra slim 20 year old, so found it quite simple. It took us 19 minutes 31 secs, but I stayed with her to give her some extra encouragement. Its the first time she has done anything like that for about 4 years (since school) thats why I considered her a novice. Thats the only reason, so I suppose she is nt that novicey at all.

Is Novicey an actual word? LOL

Thursday: 8.5 miles on the trail in 1:35.

No gator dodging today, but I did have to yield the right-of-way to a 3 foot black racer (for those who are non-Floridians, that's a very fast-moving snake!)

I got my Cardio in for today WOOHOO 1 hour.......45 minutes HIIT and 15 minutes Recovery Walk went 4.2 miles in 45 minutes then another .8 in 15 minutes so I went 5 miles in 1 hour Cool Deal.

K Question For Whomever I am having a Heck of a time Getting my HR up into the HIIT training zone or my 85% range I am Pushing hard and I mean hard the Highest I could get was 170 and I was running 8MPH I couldn't go any faster or I would have fallen off the TM my legs just don't go that fast. What do I do. I feel like I am working hard my lungs feel good I don't feel like I am really even breathing heavy like I used to. SHould I put the TM on an Incline and go with it to tax my Body on HIIT days more. I aim for the 180 and can't get er there. When I am done within 6 minutes my HR was back down to 108 LOL for my Walk I am eaiter in Increadible Shape of my Throid is screwed ROFL. Any Suggestions I don't wanna push to the point of injuring myself.

My Shoulder is really sore where I got my needle it's actually Aching and I am really feeling how sore it is after my run. I may be lifting light on the shoulders today casue of that. This happens evey now and again just got the Muscle fibers he said cause my Muscles are so Dence now that I may have swelling and a bit of aching i the muscles more now DAMN well at least it's only 1 time per month right. Goodness. At least I got my Cardio in I have run so far this week 20 miles and I still ahve tomorrows Big run YAY.
