  • Exercise for Big Arms

Question, I have huge arms, fat wise, they are my worse feature. When I have a side view of myself I want to scream because of them. I know that I could probably start lifting weights and make them muscular big but I don't want to do that. What type of exercises would make them get smaller rather than muscular big?

    Re: Exercise for Big Arms

If they are fairley Plump have a lot of fat on them Lifting weights would do the trick, do sets of High reps and Modest weights But, the Big thing is really watch your Diet incorperate Cardio and Weight training I used to have Big arms for a girl and Mine have shrunk a ton lifting weights. If ya lose all the fat off of them working your atkins and your exercise they will shrink.

Are you suggesting just free weights or on machines?

I have flapping arms myself. I started swimming and doing low-weight, multiple reps on the arm machines as well. That seems to help the breeze from flowing around my arms as much.

Swimming, or rowing the arms in such a motion might be a start.

Free weights work the Arms more but you can Use machines if it's easier for you to do so Just be sure to work the Entire arm and upper and lower body not just pieces of your body or you will start to look unproportioned.

            Re: Exercise for Big Arms

there really aren't any spot reduction exercises. if it was so then tennis players would have more fat on the nonracket arm and back in the 70s they tested the tennis pors and found no difference in the amount of fat on the arms just in the muscle mass on the arms.
You can as Sarah said exercise your arm muscles to tone them up and develope them which will help your body burn more total fat and reduce your fat from your entire body. You will not "bulk up" with muscle unless you have a large supple of testostrogen. Any exercise you do that will use the arms will help but weight training will do a faster job.

            Happy low carbing.

              Re: Exercise for Big Arms

I'm fairly young and very very unhappy with the amount of skin I have from losing weight over the years. I use the weight machines at the gym at least 20 minutes per day, double that if I do it before AND after my hour of cardio. I was wondering if there was anything I could do short of the surgery for the tucks that I cannot afford right now. Any ideas?

                Re: Exercise for Big Arms

I've been having pretty good luck with Jiggle-Proof Your Arms. You can find it on the internet with a google search.

I've been doing just one of the exercises each day using 8 lb. dumbbells, but started with lower weights. I do 3 sets of 12. I lift heavier weights and use a weight bench a couple of days each week mostly for upper body strengh rather than toning, but I'm sure it is also helping with tone.
