This past Sunday after I went running my ankle was sore, now as of today I am in so much pain and my ankle is swollen!!! The last couple of days I have been using ice and a heating pad. I don't know what else to do to speed up the recovery. I tried running yesterday because I thought my ankle was better, but boy was I wrong! Does anyone have any ideas of anything else I could do to help my ankle get better and fast!? I hate not being able to workout, I feel so lazy. Thank you!

Re: Ouch! Workout injury
I agree with 4mysize...please see a doc! I mildly sprained my ankle a while back and (regretfully) didn't see the doc. I think if I had, it might have healed properly.
Could be sprained, or something going on with the tendons...only a doc could tell you. Sorry to hear you're in pain...Get well soon!~Lisa

Re: Ouch! Workout injury
The RICE method is best:
REST
ICE
COMPRESSION
ELEVATION
and I agree, see your doctor. NO RUNNING UNTIL YOU ARE TOTALLY PAIN-FREE. You're not slacking .. you are preventing further injury that could end your running career permanently. PAIN IS THE ONLY WAY YOUR BODY CAN TELL YOU TO STOP.

Re: Ouch! Workout injury
I am going to see how it does over the weekend and when Monday comes it if has gotten worse or hasn't changed, I will call the doctor. I having been using ice ALOT, and I just started to take ibuprophen, which helps a little with the pain, and I have been keeping the leg elevated. Thank you everyone for your help!
