I'm so excited!! mY FIRST 5K is Saturday. I haven't been able to run for a few years now because of all the weight I had bad back and knee pain. If I can do it anyone can!!!
Wow, Congrats to you and good luck! I'm sure you will do great! You are an inspiration!

good for you. I remember my first 5K after starting Atkins just don't get caught up in the keeping up with the others and make sure you go at your normal pace.
BEST OF LUCK!! There's *nothing* quite as much fun as your first competitive event!! Enjoy yourself and be sure and come back here and let us know all about it! I'm so excited for you!!
Good luck, I hope you enjoy it. I am sure you will.
Best bit of advice came from 2big. Be sure to run at your own pace. Its so easy to get carried away with the moment and start off to quickly, just to keep up with others. Find a steady pace and stick to it, you will be fine.

It never ceases to amaze me of how easy and how effective this ***diet*** is!!
I have since re-gained a bit of weight, but that is soon to be coming off again!
Thanks all! I'm really going to take the advice of pacing myself. I tend to be over competitive. Maybe I'll hook up with a fast one and jump on there back when I need a break . I should get a good time that way. LOL.
Well I did it!! I ran this past Saturdaythe 5k and my time was 36:24 minutes. I couldn't believe it. It was so motivating to do more races. My DH was laughing at me cause I told him I started to cry when the race started - yeah it's only 3.2 miles, but I challenged myself and won (my own race in my head). I can't wait until the next one. It's amazing how you challenge your body and get such emotional gratification out of it. Thanks to everyone for their support
