Ok, everyone, here's how it is. I have formed a new short-term, mid-term, and long-term exercise goal, and I wanted to post my intentions here because putting it on there into the semi-public will keep me honest.
I am learning to jog. I have gotten some great advice from a half-marathoner dear to me, and I have developed a strategy to acheive my goals.
Starting this week, I will go walk/jogging twice a week at a 1/4 mile high school track near me. My first week's plan is as follows:
3.25 miles total distance covered; 1.5 laps walking, .5 lap jogging, sequence repeated 3 more times, for a total of 12 laps of this pattern, then a final lap of walking to cool down.
I plan to gradually increase the jogging distances and decrease the walking distances over the weeks until I am totally jogging.
One short-term goal is to jog an entire mile without walking. Another is to jog the entire three miles.
My mid-term goal is to run in the 3 mile Susan Komen's race for the cure in September and jog/run the entire thing. My friend does this race every year (though it's one of her baby, training races).
My long-term goal is to be able to run/jog/walk from home to my college next spring semester while wearing my shoulder bag that has all my schoolbooks in it. Ideally, I'd like to not have to worry about traffic or parking, so this has a dual purpose.
I WILL do this. Thanks for letting me get it on the record.

That's the amazing thing about goals .. they *are* achievable and even SURPASSABLE! You are only limited by your own limitations! So set your goals high and be prepared to be totally amazed at what your body can and will do!!
