  • Jogging on a Trampoline

A friend of mine recently told me about doing this on one of those small little trampolines indoors, so I decided to give it a try.

It seems I get a really good work out and I can do longer on the trampoline than I can if I just go out and hit the pavement.

Anyone else try this or have any experience with it?

      Re: Jogging on a Trampoline

Couple of weeks ago I saw them advertising a rebounder on the Home Shopping Network. Think you really can get a good workout from it. I have a trampoline in my backyard for the kids but don't get on it because I don't feel comfortable jumping up and down for my neighbors to see me. However, on the few occasions when I do get up it certainly gets my heart pumping quickly and I know if I could stay on for a decent amount of time it would be an excellent workout.

I like the little ones that have 6 legs for stability and good springs. i'm clumsy so jumping a few inches off the ground makes me feel better.

I agree, plus don't get the pain in the knees on the little one as I do on the big one. Would really like to get the rebounded they had on HSN but I know my hubby will blow a stack since we do have the big one.

Is the low impact the reason that I can do longer on it than I can when I just go out and hit the pavement?

Absolutely, PastorSBC. It's much easier on the joints, for sure!

I can go forever on a Rebounder, just like I can run a lot longer on a treadmill versus hitting the pavement. Keep working at it and you'll get there!

So which is better for you? Jogging on a trampoline or getting outside and jogging at the track or street?

Trampoline is better for joints, and it also will help your body to move lymph (which is good).

These links show many benefits of rebounding...

Thanks for those links, interesting stuff.

Does the time on a trampoline jogging equate with time jogging outside? Like for example I normally jog a mile in 9-10 mins, if I jog on a trampoline for 9-10 mins does that equal a mile? Or is it different?

                          Re: Jogging on a Trampoline

How essential is it to get an expensive rebounder for doing this?

Can you get a cheapie $30 trampoline or do you really need the expensive ones?

I dont really know. The one I use my wife got for my kids at Walmart. It seems to work fine, but it may not last very long.

My Urban Rebounder is very well made & has 6 legs on it instead of the standard 4. The springs on it are bullet proof too. <shrug> It was worth the investment to me, but I knew I'd use mine and get lots of mileage out of it. If you're not sure or just aren't willing to pay for an expensive one, one of the "cheapies" will do the trick nicely. Just make sure it's stable.

As for translating miles and time on a Rebounder - I don't know. I never paid much attention to it that way anyway. I'm more interested in how long I'm on it than how far I'd have gone. I know that I can knock out 45 minutes of Rebounding and that I can knock out 45 minutes of running. <shrug> I also know that my heart rate is about the same for both.
