  • Marine Corps Marathon!

Officially registered today for the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington, D.C. on October 30th, 2006. I've been training since January for this event, but could not say officially until registration opened (this morning) and I made it in. They cut registration off at 30,000 runners . Last year it filled up in 62 hours.

This race will be a family trip. The wife and kids are going to make the trip from Michigan to D.C. We'll see the sights some before and after the marathon.

The goal for my first marathon (Detroit) was to finish. I finished in 4:48:12.
I ran that marathon at 225 pounds.

The goal for this marathon is less than 4:20:00. That should be attainable since I'm running a lot more miles than the first time around. Carrying 50 less pounds should also help .

    Re: Marine Corps Marathon!

Good Luck to you. I admire all you runners. I used to run, well I call it that, never to the extent you all do. I ran 5-6 miles a day. I loved it. Well, 2 knee surgeries and several stress fractures later; I have been advised not to run. I don't know if I could, with my asthma being so severe now, but I sure would love to try.

Last season I started running again 4 miles a day, after 2 weeks was off my feet with stress fractures AGAIN, not even able to get my walking in.

So, I wil behave and admire from afar all you RUNNERS..

Again, Best of luck to you.
