  • I Can't Believe What I Just Did!

I haven't exercised in maybe 25 years -- I know that's hard to believe, but it's true. I have severe arthritis in my ankles and knees. My achilles tendons are stiff, and I BOUGHT AN EXERCISE VIDEO! I brought it home, put it in the DVD player and watched it through to see if I thought I could do any of it. To my surprise, I was able to do some of the exercises.

What I liked about the video was that the trainer said if you can't do what we are doing, just do what's comfortable for you, just so long as you keep your heart rate up. Well, I did all of the warm-ups and cool downs, some with modifications, and was able to stick with him for about 15-20 minutes of the main part of the exercise. I'm sure I'll be sore tomorrow, but it sure made me feel good that I could do something.

I also bought some 2 pound weights that I could use for my arms and did several exercises with them. Tomorrow's another day. I'm going to see if I can do more tomorrow than I could do today.
    June Goals
    1. Continue with water
    2. Use bike more (3x per week would be nice).
    3. Continue with videos.
    4. Go to the YMCA for water classes.
    5. Build stamina for more walking.

    Goals for May:
    1. Water every day - at least 100 oz.
    2. Walk through Wal Mart instead of ride.
    3. Post every day.
    4. Get the exercise bike out of basement and use it!
    5. Re-read DANDR! It's been too long.

    Good for you thats wonderful!

Whats the name of the video? Have you seen the Walking Away The Pounds video? That is a good one too - if you can walk, kick and step to the side you can do this video! Its a good one too.

It's The Biggest Loser - The Workout. I'll look at the one you mentioned as well. Thanks for the quick reply.

Nice start on the exercise. Even the walk through Walmart rather than riding is commendable. Keep up the good work.

The walking through Wal Mart experiment hasn't gone as well as I had planned. Some days I can do it, and others I can't. But when I can, I do.

I also WAY underestimated how far I walk in a day. I bought a pedometer and wore it for a couple of days, and was really disappointed. I thought I typically walked a lot farther than I had.
