  • Question--advice/suggestions needed

Hello everyone! I will be playing in a weekend soccer tournament next weekend. By that time I will be 10 days into induction. I want to know if anyone can give me some suggestions to avoid fatigue, shakes etc. while I`m playing. Last year this same time I was 1 week into induction and played in a soccer tournament. I experienced shaky hands and an overall lightheadedness. I went off the diet for the duration of the tournament because I realized that I needed carbs to fuel me. I then successfully restarted the diet when I returned home.
Basically, anyone who can tell me what kind of things I should be eating, and when I should start eating them (the night before, morning of, etc.) would be a great help. I don`t want to be swigging Coke on the field like last year!

    Many thanks in advance!

I say that your proteins, fats, and the carbs you get from your veggies will be sufficient enough to fuel you. Remember that while in ketosis your body is fueled from fat, so you will have the fuel your body needs without alot of carbs. Just stay hydrated (with water), munch on beef jerky, and you'll be fine.

I am a runner, and when I 1st began Atkins, I thought there would be a problem with energy during my runs. But now I know that your body uses the fat just as well as it used to use the carbs, and I have no problem when running.

I wish you the best at your tournment!

I play double header softball games, and I bring a big water with me, maybe a cheese. i eat a small breakfast, nothing spectacular, and i eat when I get home. If you are fueling your body then what you do right now should be sufficient I think.

Yup be SURE to get your Veggies in you will be 10 days into induction so I think adding in some good Veggies some extra should be good. Also be sure you have a good lean protein source like chicken and snacks to go with you. If you get extra shakey you may need your potassium especially if you are exercising hard that in itself can cause the fatigue and shakiness it wouldn't hurt to take a Potassium suppliment. Be sure to drink lots of water and you should be fine just be sure you are eating sufficent calories for your exercise.
