  • Backpacking/hiking

Something to consider if your an outdoors person.
Hiking is great excercise. If you get into longer distance trips and start backpacking the weight can really drop off. You can only carry a limited amount of food and you have to adhere to eating to a specific meal plan.
Last year I hiked 100 miles on the Long Trail in Vermont in 9 days and lost 10 lbs. Any other avid Backpackers/Hikers out there?

    Re: Backpacking/hiking

Absolutely Jack I adore hiking...I have been so busy lately my boots are what my husband discribes as "little knick knacks collecting dust"

so just this post was the motivator for me today ...I feel like a soda bottle someone shook too hard ...I need to get out!!!!....so.... I am going put those dusty boots on this afternoon when I get off work and go for a trail close to home ..no excuses ..the lawn can wait..the house can wait ....the dust will fall off the boots if I just put them on ...
nothing in this world feels like walking on a trail

    thanks

        Re: Backpacking/hiking

I'll be hitting the Long Trail in Vermont this weekend for another 30 mile section!
Yipee...That will put me at 162.6 miles done and 110.1 miles to go!
Can't wait to get back on the trail and burn some lbs.

          Hiya Jack,

I'm a hiker too, and love it! My DD, sis and I head for the hills and day trips at least a couple times a month during mid-summer and into fall. In fact, we're going to meet up with a friend in September and walk a section of the Wonderland Trail with her...we're very excited about that!

Shelly, Thats great! Isn't it wonderful to get out on the trail? I was out this weekend and everyone you run into is so friendly. The common bond of hiking and nature seems to bring out THE BEST in people!
I hiked 30 miles and climed 15 peaks and met some great people and dropped another 1-1/2lbs. Can't beat that!
            Happy trails!
