I have lost a little over 50 lbs, but still weigh 240ish. I deal with high blood pressure and a fast heart rate, 95 resting. How much should I really be doing at this time? I walk on the treadmill for 30 minutes 5 days per week at 3 mph. Is this gonna get the job done? I have to get this weight off. I have more things I want to do with my life.

Re: How much is enough?
I noticed you had no posts and I thought I would share my thoughts.
First off, congrats on losing 50 lbs. It is a lot of weight but keep it going. Remember, that you did not put all the weight on in a matter of months, so it will take time to lose it.
Keep working out and up your intensity levels. Somedays power walk, maybe try an aerobic video or two but whatever you do, keep your heartrate up. I would increase your activity level as you much as you feel you can.
When I first started out, I barely could walk a mile, then I could. Then I got up to two miles, then I started running. Now I just mix it up and do cardio daily to maintain. Exercise is the key!
I know for a fact I would not look the way I do if I just watched what I ate. Exercise is the best thing for your body. Trust me, there are days and weeks when you don't want to, but you must. I am in a funk lately and feel burned out but I am still working out regularly.
YOU CAN DO IT! You have already lost 50+, what is stopping you from making goal?
You are worth the work, remember that. Over anything else, you matter the most right now and you must tell yourself that.

Re: How much is enough?
That sounds pretty good, but I would add in some sorta of weight training or resistance training type exercises to help with muscle tone. It could be yoga, or weights or aerobics or pilates or free exercises using a stability ball etc. Check out some of the Exercise challenges for abdominal crunches and push ups and other ideas.
I love the way my body looks now that I am doing these things. More muscle tone, clothes fit better, and I feel stronger and have more energy than when I was just doing walking. Some of my problem areas (like my hips, thighs and upper arms) look tons better. I lift weights and do free exercises.Start date: 2/22/04 347/222/135 ~ 5'2"
STAC Restart: 1/05/09
