  • Not-So-Cool-Running for the week of August 13

Sorry I'm late with the thread ... wasn't feeling well yesterday.

Monday: 6.3 miles done before work. It was brutal .. got rain late yesterday which really CRANKED the humidity. I think I should run with a knife on my head to cut through the air. I will be so glad when fall gets to Florida.

I have since re-gained a bit of weight, but that is soon to be coming off again!

Re: Not-So-Cool-Running for the week of August 13

A little ... yesterday I was slicing up turnips and the butcher knife slipped and I nearly severed the tip of my third finger ... it bled for 3 solid hours...I had it wrapped tightly with icepacks, holding my arm above my heart to try and stop the bleeding ... I began feeling pretty faint so I laid down awhile ... finally got the gusher stopped a little with the help of Liquid Bandage and Neosporin cream and fresh bandages .. its still oozing a little and is so sore I can't use my left hand hardly .. typing is out of the question with that finger!!! I probably needed stitches, but decided to deal with it by myself ... I'm afraid to take off the bandages for fear it will start up bleeding full force again ...

        Thanks for asking, Rich!

Keep the bandage on for a little while, but I am sure it would have stopped bleeding by now.

Wednesday: 6.3 miles in before work. 1 hour 15 minutes. IT WAS HOT... even before sunup. I sweat off 2 pounds.

Not planning to run again until this Friday evening, where I will aim to get 5 or so miles in.

Thanks, 2Big!! Its feeling alot better, thanks to lots and lots of Neosporin.

Thursday AM: 5.2 miles in before work. Wanted to go farther but I have an important meeting at 9:00 today at work, so time was short. Hate it when work gets in the way of running!

Well today was a landmark day in my quest to run 1,500 miles this year: I hit 1,001.98 miles.

Re: Not-So-Cool-Running for the week of August 13

I have returned! Actually, I never gave up the running, just the low-carbing. I'm getting back on that wagon too. I missed you guys!

                    So far this week:
                    Monday: 4.59 miles
                    Tuesday: 3.29 miles
                    Thursday: 4.0 miles

Today the plan is 5 miles, tomorrow's plan is 6 miles.

Next week I'm running Hood to Coast, which is a 197 mile relay race from Mt. Hood to the Oregon coast!!!! My part of it will be 2 6-mile runs and 1 5-mile run... over a period of about 30 hours (with about 8 hours of rest in between each run). Should be fun, but tiring!

KELLY!!!! ((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))))))))))) )))))) So glad you're back!!!!

Great job keeping up with the running and getting back on track with your eating!! Wow, that sounds like an incredible relay coming up!! Let us know all the details!!

Saturday: 14.1 miles in for me, which gives me a good week of running: 6.3, 6.3, 5.2, 14.1 = 31.9.

                        Friday: 5.24 miles
                        Saturday: 6.56 miles

That puts me at 23.68 for the week.

I know, my numbers are too exact. I can't help it, I'm an engineer. Both my GPS and the treadmill go to that decimal place!
