3.25 miles for me during lunch... nice easy day to recover from Hood to Coast! (although I did push it on speed a bit... I was inspired after seeing how many people whizzed past me this weekend!)
Tuesday, 8/29: 6.3 miles in before work. I don't typically run on Tuesdays, but since we will be leaving town tomorrow, I knew I wouldn't get a run in before we go. Looking forward to getting up early and running in 50 degree temps for a week!
I will be on vacation from 8/30 to 9/6, but never fear, I will *still* be running every morning. We are going to Ohio, to our favorite amusement park, Cedar Point for a week. I plan to run every morning early, before the park opens, at least 3-4 miles a day. With that and all the walking at the park, I will get plenty of exercise.
You guys keep at it!! I may not be on the thread, but I'll be checking soon as I get home to see who has been slackin!!!
OK people I am back after 7 weeks of no running. No more excuses, the one I was using was that I needed new shoes, and given everything going on in my life right now I hadn't had a chance to get any. Well I got a new pair last night. I did the right thing (per so many websites) and bought them a size too big (14D's instead of 13EEE's) and what a difference! Plenty of room in the toebox and just plain comfortable run. And the real reason no blisters (my old ones kept giving me one under the ball of my foot).
Anyway 5 miles this morning, easy pace 55:30. I'm registering for my half-marathon right now for Oct 8th, in order to keep me going. And today is day 1 of my restart (again and hopefully the last) thanks to a humbling post from piasabird in my journal.

Yes I'm eating a smore in the picture, how do you think I got so fat?

Jim, shall we set up our very own 1/2 marathon training thread? I have my first on the 17th September and my second mid October.......

It never ceases to amaze me of how easy and how effective this ***diet*** is!!
I have since re-gained a bit of weight, but that is soon to be coming off again!
Sure we could Rich, but I think this thread could suffice. I think it might just spread us too thin. Something I might post here I would instead post there. Also I like seeing other peoples info to keep me motivated.
I'll leave it up to you, but my opinion is it's not necessary.

Well, it doesn't look I'll be running in that half. Registration is closed, and the only way to run now is with a fundraising team and I just don't have the time to go out and raise $500. So I'll have to look for some other races.

You guys are inspiring! I actually am just now starting to walk/run, and am excited about it. I've done it for two whole days already... lol. And am going on my "long walk/run" tonight (Wednesdays and Saturdays).
I invested in some good shoes yesterday and even a few pairs of those fancy expensive socks (my friend who runs marathons told me my socks suck). I'm looking forward to going tonight so I can try out my new shoes. They feel so much lighter and more comfortable than the clunky cross trainers I've been wearing.
I'm signing up for the inaugural ING Georgia (Half) Marathon this week -- I work there so we get a free entry -- which is at the end of March. About 7 months away -- plenty of time to train. I'm psyched!! Will stop back here often for motivation!
5 miles this morning, very sllloooooowwwwwww, 1:01:26. But I was a bit sore from yesterday. I was planning on a nice slow jog but when I do I get lost in my thoughts and slow down even more. But on the plus side I got 10 more minutes of exercise in.
