  • Walking speed question...

Today I walked 3.60 miles it took 1 hour and 25 minutes. I was with my 3 year old on his bike. Can anyone tell me what my miles per hour was? I hope that I annotated the distance correctly. I am trying to say I walked 3 1/2 miles plus another 10th of a mile. (I hate measurements and distances)

Your speed is approximately 2.54 miles per hour. It took you 23.62 minutes to walk 1 mile. Keep up the good work - walking is great exercise. The more you do - the better you will feel! Enjoy...

good job getting started as you get in better conditon you can go faster. I used to go 2MPH when I started and now I'd walk off the front of my treadmill if I set it that slow.

Im really impressed your 3 yr old can ride over 3 miles at a time.

        Re: Walking speed question...

I purchased a walking odometer from the Walmart sporting goods section for about $4. You just clip it to the top of your pants & it tells you how far you walked and how many calories were burnt. I really love the thing. I'm not sure how much they would cost in Hawaii, but I don't think they would be too expensive. If you think you'll be walking more in the future, I highly recommend buying one of the gadgets.
