  • Would you say this is normal?

I started atkins back in april and lost 40lbs without ever setting foot in the gym. I just started back in the gym in the last month and a half, and I have lost no weight. Now, I understand that I am gaining muscle, but shouldnt I still see some weight loss? I execise 6 days and I am very clean with my diet. My goal is to be 250 by December, and I feel I wont be able to make it now I am just starting to get frustrated, and feel like I should stop lifting weight and concentrate just on cardio.

    What should I do?

    Stats:
    Age:20
    Height: 6'4"
    Weight: 280

Zeco, can you post some of your typical daily menu's? You may be eating something that you shouldnt.

It sounds strange, because if you are exercising for 6 days of the week, you should be losing weight.

It never ceases to amaze me of how easy and how effective this ***diet*** is!!

I have since re-gained a bit of weight, but that is soon to be coming off again!

You could try cutting out the protein shakes and see if that makes a difference.

Also, when you are exercising - what exercising are you doing?

there are many things going on right now with your body and the scales

first by over eating your Atkins protein intake cal counting isn't good but based on your cals you are eatting over 44% of yours as protein ( it should be 30% max) which means you have a lot of excess protein being converted to sugar in your body and that sugar is stopping your fat burning and actually storing fats.

eating a propper Atkins with the 30% proteins exceeds the amount you will need for body repair and growht from your exercise so we don't need to supplement with proteins. for your 1800 cals you should be having no more then 135 grams of protein. the rest of your cals should be in the form of healthy fats as Atkins is a ketogenic plan. you have no fat in your menu at all except the very small amount in the meat and eggs.

next adding new to your body exercise loads causes muscles to grow and to ad fluids as they are genetically programmed to assist you in escaping whatever danger is causeing that new to them load just in case it comes back. once the muscle tissues sense it is the normal for them load they will release this fluid and you will get sclae weight loss from that.

But eating a proper Atkins you will be morphing your body ( thisa is why your tapemeasure will be your friend) as you shed fat mass you add lean body mass and the sclaes can't distinguis the difference as all it measures is the change in total mass as effected by the force of gravity.

so measure your body and then fix your Atkins meal plan to lower the protein and increase the fats and you should see a change. remember don't eat to a cal number learn your hunger and feed only it some days it will be higher and other days lower. that is the biggest lesson you can learn doing Atkins.

            happy low carbing.

I agree with 2big .. you are definitely overeating on the protein .. cut it back and things should get moving again.
