Re: Cool Running for the Week of October 8, 2006

Heys guys, I know, I know, I am back from the land of the lost (loved that show). Anyway 5 miles in this morning. Very slow, almost 61 minutes. Well what do I expect carrying a 50 pound bag of dog food around? Well back to it, now to get back under 60 minutes and then under 50 minutes again. Then new record times.

    Missed posting in here.
    Jim

Yes I'm eating a smore in the picture, how do you think I got so fat?

Hi Sharon!! Yep .. still running .. no plans to ever quit!

Welcome back, Jim!! Hey 5 miles in 61 minutes is downright good!! Keep it up and that bag of dog food will be gone in a hurry!

Raining here now .. not sure if I'll get my run in after work, but I'm hoping so!

Another 5 miles in for me this morning. 2-1/2 minutes faster than yesterday, so back under the 60 minute threshhold, now to get back under the 50 minute and improve from there. I want to be faster than I was once I get my weight back to where it was. Then as I lose more, I can shave some more time off.

Another strange thing about this mornings run, my peak and average heart rate for the run were lower than yesterday, yet I ran faster. Go figure, maybe I was running more "efficiently". LOL

Great job, Jim! You haven't lost much ground at all!! That's fabulous about the HR too .. definitely good to go faster with less effort!

Goodluck on Sunday, Rich! We'll be anxious to hear all about it!

I have my 5k tomorrow morning. I decided not to run today to make sure my legs are fresh for tomorrow. I'd really like to do well in this one. It will be my first 5k in over a year .. maybe longer, I don't remember. Anyway, the weather should be pretty good, they are saying a low tonight around 70 and less humidity than we've had recently which is always a good thing!

Oh, I've definitely lost ground and lots of it. My best time for 5 miles was 45:52, so I'm 12 minutes off the pace. I should get 7-9 of those back within a couple of weeks.

Then I want sub 9 minute miles.
