  • My running goals. What are yours?

    My goals!

    Short term, midterm and long term. (this sounds like a job interview)

    Short - To compete in as many races as I can keeping my average minute miles below 10.

    Medium - and highly feasible I think, I thought this up last night. To compete at least 10 half marathons in 2007 thus bringing me in line for my longterm -

    Long term goal - to complete the London marathon.

    What are your main aims?

    It never ceases to amaze me of how easy and how effective this ***diet*** is!!




    I have since re-gained a bit of weight, but that is soon to be coming off again!

    Short term - continue to run in the cold and consistently train through the winter

    Mid term - Run a well-attended half marathon in the spring and better my time

    Long term - Continue to run or be challenged by running, and perhaps perform an under 3:40 marathon. My nearer term goal is to just finish one running strong.

      Short: To meet (and hopefully exceed) my 2006 goal to run 1,500 miles.

      Medium: To finish my upcoming half marathon and full marathon stronger than I did the last ones.

      Long: To still be running 30 years from now!

        Short: to get back to my regular 5k 4 days a week.

        Long: to run a full 10k race. I tried about a month ago, wasn't a race just a 5/10k charity run, only made it 7k

          I'm afraid I won't be running any races...I just got back into being able to walk 4 miles again without falling...but I do admire all of you that run the marathons and races. I just love hearing about them and am so proud of all of you!!!

            Short - increase my distance and once a week do a 10 km run.

            Medium - get my times down to around 5:30 per km, now at around 6:30. Had a quantum leap in the last week where my time per km suddenly dropped from 7:30, so hopefully can achieve this again over the next months.

            Long - prepare for and enter the 10 km "Frauenlauf" event in 2007.

              Uh, I suck at running, but I'm still trying! I want to improve my endurance and speed.

              Short Term: Run 1 mile in under 10 minutes (yes, I'm more of a jogger than a runner, and I usually go 1 or 2 miles at a shot)
              Short Term 2: Run 3 miles with no stops (no time limit)
              Medium Term: Run 2 miles in 25 minutes
              Medium Term 2: Run 4 miles with no stops (no time limit)
              Long Term: Run 5 miles with no stops (no time limit)
              Long Term 2: Run 5 miles in less than an hour

              I don't have a time frame for these, but I'm hoping that during my workouts each week I will be continually improving as I train, lose weight, and build muscle!
