    I think I'm ready.

These last few weeks i've been doing running and plenty of Ab exercises. This week starting Thursday I ran 6 Miles, on Friday I ran 12 Miles and today for Saturday I ran 18 miles in 2 hours and 45 minutes. I'm very sore because i didn't give my body time to rest but it's nice to know that I didn't stop one bit and that i had plenty energy left after the run. Sure I didn't train the way a marathon runner is supposed to but I'm doing just fine. I'll run another 6 miles on Wednesday and afterwards i'm just going to rest, Ab exercises and plenty of stretching before Sundays Marathon.

In other news i finally broke 160lbs and i'm down to 158lbs.

Congrats on building your base. Sure you didn't make it to 20 miles, but as long as you take your marathon slow, you can do a great marathon. Just remember to keep to your taper plan... Pushing yourself before the marathon is NOT going to help at all. Give yourself a chance to recover and even on Wednesday run at a pace 2 minutes per mile slower than your marathon pace.

I read somewhere that to be able to runa full marathon, you need to be able to run 18 miles in training.

By that reckoning, you are well on track. Good luck on the big day.

wow that is great did you wear your boots and gear or regular running gear? if you were 4 exactly you would qualify for the Boston marathon so you are in pretty good running shape company.

Actually that would only be true if he was 60 for a guy...

                          so here is the update:
i came in #33 out of 241 participants in Iraq.
Not once did i walk and the only time i stopped was to use the bathroom 2-3 times.
my first marathon ever with less than 2 months to train for it.
there were 4-6 hills total we had to climb as you can see in one of the pictures which affected our time in my opinion.
all participants who finished the race got a brand new 2gb Ipod Nano donated by USAA company to support the troops running the first Marine Corps Marathon in Iraq.
overall i did pretty well and when i get back to the states i plan on running the san diego rock and roll marathon in 2007, this time around i'm going to turn it up a notch because i still had plenty of energy to spare.
