  • Butt Exercises

I realize this is going to be a silly question, but hang in there with me.

I'm working on my butt, which... carries a lot of weight... right. I've been doing squats, lunges, step ups, deadlifts... I want to make my butt smaller, not bigger. I'm afraid by doing these exercises, my butt will get bigger, which.. it already, really really is.... and that's not what i want! HelP!

My butt reduced a lot when I started running. The same could work for you. Not necessarily running, try walking.

It never ceases to amaze me of how easy and how effective this ***diet*** is!!

I have since re-gained a bit of weight, but that is soon to be coming off again!

      Re: Butt Exercises

Not sure if I can run yet because of my knee. Walking.. I could do at like 2 mph, not sure if thats worth it? Any other suggestions? I've been using the eliptical varies inclines, the bike, and the stair stepper.. (tho I just read that the stair stepper can build up thighs, and butt...) !

I had the same fears when I started running .. that my legs would get BIG .. that never happened .. in fact, they shrunk .. ALOT. Rich is right; walking is good (the faster the better). Your butt will get tighter and therefore smaller. Just keep at it!

          Re: Butt Exercises

It doesn't work that way...your glute muscles won't expand any more than your jaw gets larger if you talk a lot, if you get my drift.

This is the same sort of myth you hear about "spot reducing". Doesn't exist...never has and never will unless our physiology changes dramatically.

Do whatever form of exercise you currently can that will help you burn calories, develop better overall fitness and cultivate good habits/healthy lifestyle.

It'll all work out well...sooner than you might think!

            Re: Butt Exercises

Just do what you keep doing =) Running/walking is always great of course, but those lunges and such will REALLY help out in sculpting in your butt nicely. Cardio blasts help you lose the fat, but sculpting gives a desired shape.

Looking at it optimistically - even if your butt still remained big with the sculpting, it'd be a very sexy big butt and it'd still be minimize by the fat that was lost =)
