Female, 48, 5ft 3, 318 pounds.
Lately I have had increasing pain and stiffness in my hip/buttock area.
I usually do water aerobics at least three times a week and every Wednesday I have a massage. Masseuse detected "knots" so deep in my gluteus maximus they were beyond her. I've had two nights' disturbed sleep cos of the pain. Yesterday I saw a therpaist who made me scream and sob in pain as she dug deep into the "gloots". Afterwards I could stand up straight at last.
I'm still sore from the treatment, but I think it has worked. She told me to "take it really easy for a few days", and I am upset because it has broken the momentum I had built up with my water aerobics. Also, on Monday I joined the gym and paid a year's membership. I've also bought a small home gym and I am keen to start using it.
Worst of all, I've worked hard to build up my stamina and I'm worried that if I lay up for a few days I'll feel too fat and lazy to get started again.
I'm wondering if anyone on this board knows about these "gloots" and why I have developed this problem. Is it my obesity? Is it that I have been too strenuous in my water aerobics? Is it some other reason I cannot think of? Are there movements I should avoid making in the pool?
Are there any movements / exercises/ stretches I can do NOW to put my "gloots" right? Is there anything I can do to prevent this happening in the future?
Thanks in anticipation, Helena
