Does anyone ever attend circuit training classes?

The reason I ask is that tonight I am going to my first one ever. I am expecting to ache tomorrow morning.

It never ceases to amaze me of how easy and how effective this ***diet*** is!!

I have since re-gained a bit of weight, but that is soon to be coming off again!

    Re: Circuit Training?

In my boot camp class, sometimes the instructor does it as circuit training--I really really like it because the stations are timed in minutes, not by how many reps you do--so you have the opportunity to push yourself to YOUR limit, not someone elses. IT IS A TOUGH WORKOUT! Yes I was sore the next day, but what impressed me even more was how much I was sweating DURING the workout! I was certainly sore, but I'm not in as good of shape as you are, so who knows if you will be?...but I can guarantee you will work your butt off!

              YEAH! LOL LOL.

It comes right on the Curves CD's.......... 30 seconds on a machine and then every 8 minutes she makes us do heart rate.

What type of machines Rich? Is there cardio stations in between?

                Re: Circuit Training?

No, it was a British version of circuit training, done in a sports hall.

Running around the outside, press ups, shuttle runs, crunches with twists, crunches with weights, boucning, step ups, quick feet, running around the outside of the circuit, squats, planks

                etc etc

sounds like a great workout Richt. Nice that you aren't using equipment because then you can do it anywhere at any time.

                      Re: Circuit Training?

I made out really well. I went with a friend from work. The instructor started us with a 10 minute warm up, of running around the outside of the hall. frontways, backwards, punching whilst running, running with knees up and running with ankles up.

Then Liz and I went to a vacant station. and did it in the following order

                      30 seconds each of -

                      Pressups
                      then moved to
                      Squats with weights
                      then
                      Shuttle runs
Quick step runs though a ladder on the floor
                      Bounces - Jumps over things)
                      Tricep dips
                      Weight curls
Quick feet on to a bench and back
                      More squats with weights
                      Step ups
Running around the outside of hall
                      Stomach crunches with a twist
                      Plank
                      Stomach crunches with weights
                      Running aroiund the outside
star jumps on a step up
                      Running around the outside
Wood chop with a medicine ball

That was one circuit. We were then allowed a breather to have a drink

Then another circuit but this time with 40 seconds at each station.

                      Another drink

Followed by a 3rd circuit, of 30 seconds per station.

                      Then a warm down.

                      It was exhausting, but fun.

                        Re: Circuit Training?

I personally LOVE circuit training. I get bored easy and when doing this type of training I never get bored. I think it is an excellent work out, not for everyone, but I love it. Sitting on a machine for so many reps is just not my cup of tea.
Did they have you do heart rates at any point?
Sounds like there is quite a bit of cardio involved....... what do you think the ratio of cardio to strength training was?

No to heart rate, but next week I think I will wear my heart rate monitor

no idea what was the ratio of cardio to strength was.

Sounds like my circuit training experiences...but we did 1.5 minutes at each station, then 1.25 minutes, then 1 minute, then 45 seconds, then 30! But we only had about 8 stations...once we were done, that's when we got water...man my teacher is a taskmaster!
