  • ADBB Exercise of the Day 12/21

    Dumbell Wrist Curl
    Starting Position
Sit with forearms resting on your thighs or a bench. Take an underhand grip on one dumbbell, passively extending your wrists downward. Place the other hand on top of your wrist (not pictured) to hold the arm in place.

    Action
EXHALE: Curl your wrist up, keeping the rest of the arm still by using your free hand.

INHALE: Slowly lower to the starting position to complete one rep. Finish all reps on this side and switch hands.

    Special Instructions
Can also be done with both wrists simultaneously.

With this exercise a lot of people get the temptation to "swing" their arm whilst doing the curl as it makes it a lot easier. DO NOT SWING THE ARM, it will not give you the benefits that way.

what size weight should be used for this?
the lightest i have is the 6.6 # and that would be too heavy for the wrist, i would think.
anybody got an idea what to use instead? water bottle maybe? that seems too light though.

Most people don't actually *need* to strengthen their forearms. *Most* people don't actually do activities that would need these muscles to be stronger than they have already developed to. People that this would not apply to would be people who are serious weightlifters who would need to have a stronger grasp upon the weights to lift more without injuring themselves... just as an FYI... unless by some strange stroke of luck you have incredibly weak forearms.

It wont matter how heavy a weight Jimmie, but most people will be able to use more weight on this muscle group than they could in another area.
