  • 1,500 Mile Goal Achieved!

Today, 12/23/2006 is a landmark day.

On January 1, 2006, I set my running goal for the year: 1,500 miles. Today, I have not only met that goal, but exceeded it.

    Its amazing to me !!

Betty, that is truly amazing! Heck, I bet some people don't even DRIVE 1500 miles in a year!

You are an inspiration to runners, non-runners, and those valiantly trying to become runners (like me!) alike. Keep up the great work!

Thanks you guys!!! If you had told me 5 years ago that I would do this, I would have laughed you clean out of town!!

Tam, I am thinking 1,600 miles for next year. Seems impossible, but then, a year ago, so did 1,500 miles!

Like they say at Disneyworld: "If you can dream it, YOU CAN DO IT."

Okay, that settles it! 1,600 miles in 2007!!! Take out stock in New Balance ...

Betty, this is a bit of a thread hijack, but if you ran over 1500 miles this year...how many pairs of running shoes did you go through? And do you buy New Balance? I like their shoes, but always wondering if there's something else better out there...

Oh gosh, I think I lost count! I remember predicting back in January that it would take 5 pairs to go 1500 miles (300 miles is my limit per pair), so at least 5 .. maybe more .. all I know is NB loves me!

I've tried Asics and Brooks and my feet TOTALLY OBJECTED .. to the tune of humongous blisters on my arches .. so its back to NB .. I was told once that if you find a pair of shoes that love your feet, don't be stupid and think about switching .. whoever told me that was RIGHT !! I love the NB 1221s/1222s the best of all. I have a narrow-ish foot that is VERY BONY, so I gotta have a cushy supportive shoe .. I've found the best prices at www.onlineshoes.com. Free shipping and no tax!
