  • Booty Bump Jump

Ok...I'll share...When I jog, I get what I like to think of as the Booty Bump Jump. This is when it feels like my behind has a mind of its own, and a trampoline to go with it. With every stride it feels as if it's trying to jump off me, and into the next zip code.

While I'm in the process of achieving that Janet-Jackson-Tight-Body-Look , what can I do about this? Are there any special garments that I could get to combat The Jump when I jog? Do I have to endure it, hoping it won't bump and jump high enough to hit me in the back of the head and knock me unconscious where I stand?

Am I the only victim of the *cue scary music* Boot Bump Jump?

Hey Cool!!! I have no idea on how to combat the "Booty Bump Jump." Love that name, btw! For me, it is also noticeable when I do an aerobic tape, jumping jacks, etc, in addition to jogging. I like to think that the extra movement, although independent of my thoughts and actions, are burning a few extra calories or losing-up the fat cells in order to get transported out. Yeah, not likely, but a girl can dream, right?

I'm so glad I'm not alone in this!

I'm sure there are other sufferers out there....they're just too shy to admit it.

I don't know if wearing something like bike shorts or something made out of lycra would help. The idea of wearing skin-forming clothes is not appealing to me.

Got any ideas of what to do??

Hmm. Well if you want to tone your booty, do squats, walking lunges, and stationary lunges. OH MY GOSH my butt has tightened up from these! And while my butt still moves when I run, it's not measuring on the richter scale anymore. Now I think it's probably just more of a pleasing sight for the male gym members.

For clothing options, you could wear bike shorts under a pair of gym shorts for extra support. And I would say, DON'T wear a long T-shirt or anything to cover it, because that will accentuate it. I look huge if I wear a big T-shirt. I look better when I wear things that are more fitted.

            Thanks Julie!

I'll try your idea of bike shorts under gym shorts. I need something to control the jiggling!

My butt does that too, a lot less when I wear running tights than shorts. I find that, since my thighs rub together and chafe, I'm a lot better off in tights anyway. I live in the middle of nowhere, however, and I can go for a whole run without anyone seeing me, so if you're shy, the bike shorts under the running shorts would certainly do the trick.

From past experience, I can tell you that anything you feel jiggling when you jog *will* get smaller if you keep it up!
