  • Good Morning- Need advice!!

    I have been sick for the past few days with the flu but am starting to feel much better. I have not been able to work out but have gone for 15 minute walks because thats all my body can take right now (i still feel weak). I do not want to push myself too too much since I am just beginning to feel better but does anyone know anything I can do to start 'upping' my excersise again? Things that will help aid me in quest for weight lost but that wont make me feel worse??

    Suggestions are ofcourse much appreciated!

    I would suggest to keep up with the walks, maybe add another 5 minute increment, or another 15 minute walk, later in the day

    Good for you for trying to keep the exercise going, I do hope you start feeling better!!

    Hopefully spring will get here someday!!!

      It usually takes me about one week to get a bug fully out of my system with no exercise. But there were times when I got sick and I kept exercising regardless. It actually decreased my sickness time since I sweated out all the toxins. My doctor had told me I should take at least 1000 mg a day of Vitamin C to boost my immune system since I work in the medical field and am always around sick people. So you could up your Vit C and Zinc intakes. Hope you feel better!!!

        Thanks for your advice!!

        Cherribom I am taking vit C... every day. I try to do as much as I can and when I start to feel fatigued I stop. Its hard when you cant breath or catch your breath cause of the congestion. I know rest is the best thing for me but I feel like a bump on a log when Im not exercising!

          Lift weights instead? You need both cardiovascular and strength training for a well rounded workout.

            Just train till failure then, listen to your body and drink tons of water! You'll feel better soon and then go at it whole heartedly! I used to take Echinacea too but not sure if it's compliant with the whole Atkins diet.

                Getting over the flu is the MOST important thing right now. Keep walking as you have and increase when you feel you can. LISTEN to your body...don't feel guilty...your health is the MOST important thing right now...no worries...soon enough you will be feeling better and right back at it.
